The initiative is part of a worldwide movement aimed at getting jobs for people with autism, often seen as an under-utilised human resource, who would otherwise struggle to find employment.
Altogether Autism national manager Catherine Trezona says employers are increasingly seeing the value in employing autistic talent because of autistic people’s neurodiversity, loyalty and attention to detail.
In partnership with Specialisterne Australia, Altogether Autism will run an Autistic Talent Search seeking expressions of interest from autistic individuals looking for a career in the hospitality industry.
We’re particularly interested in individuals who live in Wellington or within a commutable distance to Wellington or who would be willing to relocate to the capital.”
The jobs they particularly wanted to fill were as room attendants, food and beverage attendants, receptionists, concierges and chefs.
The expressions of interest material is on the Altogether Autism website.

“My autism is not a superpower. It also isn’t some kind of god-forsaken, endless fountain of suffering inflicted on my family. It’s just part of who I am as a person”. - Sara Luterman
I like it.
Specialisterne seem to be doing really well. I thought they still only operated in Denmark.

This, and the recent innovation of a major supermarket chain introducing "autism friendly" shopping hours here are tentative signs that various lobbyists are making some progress.
I am aware of the group mentioned in the OP, and emailed them 2 weeks ago, because they published a short article bemoaning the rates of suicide in the AS community. I suggested that part of the problem might be that there were no suicide prevention services that were specifically designed to meet AS needs. Haven't heard back from them. They are a collection of service providers and academics.
However every little bit of successful lobbying is a good thing in itself.
