I work part-time from home and my job is still killing me
I am a freelance copyeditor. Instead of editing the types of documents I prefer (physics research papers), I'm working with a lot of articles I don't enjoy reading. I can barely read for pleasure because reading for work takes so much energy. I'm staring at Microsoft Word (with that blinding white background). I have to focus on a lot of boring, tedious details like whether a word should be in backticks.
I can't focus on it my work. I can't work for more than thirty minutes at a time, so I take a lot of breaks and then the work takes all day to finish. So I spend half the day forcing myself to start working, trying to figure out how to relax, stressing out over when I can take a break, and worrying about how long I'll take to finish a document, all for less than two or three total hours of work per day. I'm actually afraid to take fewer breaks because my difficulty focusing might make me miss some of the little details I'm responsible for.
I got vocational rehab to help me with this career and now I need to leave it. I don't know what else to do. I can't think of any other job I can do from home. I just got back from a two-week vacation and I'm already stressed again. I have no other income. My major contract will soon end, so I'll have some time to think, but I doubt I'll find another good work-from-home career.
I just saw an ad for an English language tutoring company. They're based in Vegas and primarily work with a Chinese clientele. Instructors work from the comfort of their homes one on one with Chinese students to teach basic English. No knowledge of the Chinese language is required. The pay rate ranges from $14-$22 per hour.
If you google for jobs for teaching English from home, you'll find several companies that do this.
