I know I'm not a parent, but this is getting out of hand. My step brother, who is also autistic, went from being a high functioning honor student, to being a incapable of anything. He becomes more and more picky about his food and will barely eat anything. This applies to food he used to LOVE, too. He is 14 and is having accidents in his pants. Granted, his neglectful mother and her drunk boyfriend didn't help, but I don't think a house full of 6 people and constant noise is good, either. My mother is the only one even attempting to help him. His father (my mother's fiancee) is doing jack about it. He's supposed to be getting his son psych-help, but blows the money on things like Hulu, sports merch, and other useless things. The house is falling apart, it's super loud in here, and the place is also a flippin' wreck. We both grew up in squalor and abuse. I'm SICK of seeing history repeat! I have no authority to help him, and my patience is too little to help him. :(

Has there been any change in the household? (you mentioned finace) Also, do you often have friends over and how long do they stay? Has there always been 6 people in the house?

You mention he is 14 and this is something I often hear about, autistic kids getting worse and it's always around puberty. It could be hormones, anxiety, and being a teen is tough for everyone. And change is very difficult for an autistic person to deal with and all this could be too much for him to handle.

I also got worse but not bad as your brother since I still did things and I never started wetting my pants or having more sensory issues, I just had more meltdowns, and had behavior. There was change and that was moving house and my dad getting a new dog and my brothers often having friends over and staying and being too loud and coming into my personal space. My parents didn't make it any better and them just getting mad at me just made it worse for me. Apparently I had been getting worse before age 16 according to my mother and I figure it might have just been hormones.

When I was a kid there were bad neighborhood kids that would come over and bug me. I kind of gave up on myself because of it. Sometimes my grades suffered. Your situation seems worse though, and Im sorry for that.

If you cant do anything maybe wait untill you guys are older and can take charge of your life. Then things might be better for the both of you.
