What do you think about fanfics about real celebrities? Or about famous people from the past? Do you write/read them? If you were famous, would you like to read something like this about yourself on the net? What would you think if you saw one on the net - one about yourself? Let's assume for the sake of discussion that it wouldn't be a sex-themed story but a neutral one. I don't tend to read real-person fanfics, but I am constantly reading fanfics of my various OTP's from my shows (Especially Torchwood and The X-Files). I won't lie though, I have read a couple in the past for my old fandom, approximately 5 years ago. Most of them were actually pretty well-written. I personally think that as long as it is respectful to the celebrities and their families and personal lives, there isn't really any harm in it. I personally only will write about fictional characters because I'm not really comfortable with writing about real people.

You mean those fan-written stories featuring copyrighted characters having all sorts of non-canonical ailments, fetishes, backstories and relationships? The stories that usually have a thinly-disguised avatar of the writer rescuing all of the canonical characters and/or having sexual encounter with each one? Those stories that always seem to have some crossover character from My Little Pony or Twilight? The stories that are written by people who seem to lack a basic understanding of the use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling?

Those stories?

I have absolutely no interest in such nonsense. Real life celebrities are already barely worth my time, reading some mindless fantasy written by a drooling obsessed fan is not worth my time.

I would really hate it if people took the fictional characters I created and made disgusting "art" of them. It would be like seeing pornography of my own children. But of course, that won't ever happen because my characters will never become famous.

I still can't get the image I saw of Knuckles the Echidnea, who looks like he's on steroids with a naked human butt that's poo-stained, and Sonic who just gave birth to their(?) baby, out of my head.
