Not at the redneck/ghetto hip-hop/Baptist cesspool of a community college I went to. The library was practically a ghost town. I wish the whole campus would get destroyed. It stole some years of my life away from me and it's not the Shangri-La people like Luhluhluh, one of my detractors here, claims it to be. I find it odd that an atheist as she claims to be defends the Bible Belt.
Sheesh! Do you ever lighten up? No wonder you have "detractors"!
You have no business telling anyone to "lighten up", especially with your condescending attitude and the lies you also told about me to your best friend. You also claimed you gave up on trying to "help" me and yet you keep replying to me.
I have given up trying to help you, because you seem to give every indication that you do not want to be helped!

Have a nice day!

You'll reply anyway because you can't stay true to your words at all.

What a clever turn of phrase, hurtloam! You made me smile.

Mark, try to avoid creating or maintaining enmities by naming people as your detractors. On this small Wrong Planet of ours, we all gotta get along.

You admit you have intrusive and negative thoughts. I think the concept "____ is one of my detractors" or even just "my detractors have said ____" is one of your negative thought patterns. Because you are very sensitive and have unresolved depression, you feel things as criticism or harassment that were never intended that way. I haven't observed Luhluhluh showing the behavior you mention - I'm not saying it isn't there, I just haven't observed it. But so what? Anyway, don't add fuel to the fire. Just let things roll off you, like rain off a duck's back.

If you really want Fnord to stop commenting on your posts, please discuss with the moderators whether he can be warned and banned from posting on them. However, I don't think his first post in this thread was too bad, it's that you and he have "history" by now.

And I hope you don't feel like I am calling you out here or scolding you. I want you to see that much of the negativity is in your own mind, due to depression and negative OCD-like thinking. The upside of that is, the universe probably is not as hateful as you think. Something to discuss in therapy...

Indeed. Most people in my area have no idea who Chomsky is and wouldn't like him if they read his viewpoints.

You are SO geographically disadvantaged!

Just remember ... Austin is not that far away.

Are you reading Fahrenheit 451? Because damn, you're smoking.

My best friend lives in a small town not too far out of Austin. I've been there once and quite enjoyed the vibe. It really is a liberal bastion in an otherwise conservative state. They have a saying in Austin, which is found on t-shirts: Keep Austin Weird.

Sorry, I missed that when I posted earlier. That's a winner!

I always liked Austin. Even Dallas/Fort Worth has its merits (even if they do roll up the sidewalks by 8:00 pm). Waxahachie, however, is my favorite part of the state -- warm, quiet, hospitable, and with a night life worth looking into (if you know where to look)!

I've only been to Texas once, and only to one city - San Antonio. The people were friendly, the food was good, plentiful and cheap. But what I remember the most - even more than the Alamo - is the gorgeous Dale Chihuly sculpture in the main library. If I had to pick a library to work in in the state of Texas, it would be that one.

I seen at least a few pornos with women wanting to get with guys in libraries  I don't think women are wanting to meet guys there in real-life thou but I've only been to a library afew times since I graduated high-skewl but barely anyone was in there other than the workers/volunteers.

Thank you, BeaArthur. I don't feel scolded. Partly why I feel the wat I do towards Luhluhluh is because she kept telling me to drop the girlfriend thing and only focus on college like I was supposed to give up ever wanting a special partner.

I don't believe you should "drop" the girlfriend thing.

It's better if you have things which are priority over that, though.

From my experience, lamenting about the lack of a girlfriend, without getting involved with other interests, seems to turn off potential partners. A partner would want to know that you're interested in something other than a relationship.

Women have the tendency to fear that the man will obsess over them if they don't seem to have other interests other than them (the woman). This is the reasoning behind, at least, seeming like you're interested in things beyond romance.
