I’ve noticed that every single time a new movie about dogs comes out, my mom always cries after seeing the trailer for it. (Alpha, AXL, Dog’s Purpose, etc.). The only dog movies she doesn’t seem to get sad at are diabetically sweet talking dog movies like Cats and dogs, Marmaduke, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, etc. We have two dogs in our family (one is a male black Heinz 57 mix and the other is a Female Boxer-Sharpei puppy). Is this neurotypical or is my mom extra-emotional? It confuses me.

Its's neither NT nor special for your mom. I'm aspie and much the same way. It's a (female) dog lover thing. We love dogs and are easily moved by them. Sometimes even something happy can make us close to tears because it can still be touching and beautiful.
