I've read about the sensitivities to foods - aversions, etc.
After nearly two months I'm still not sure if I'm an Aspie, Schizoid or just an odd NT.
When I was a child I had various aversions to food (probably perfectly normal), many of which I have outgrown - but some only recently.
I will eat a green pepper but for the longest time I couldn't handle them - and others were chomping down green peppers like candy.
Now, at the age of 43 I'm not very prejudicial about foods, but there's a few that I still can't handle.
One, Parsnips.
The other, which I wonder if I'm the only one on the planet with this aversion: avocados. People always look at me in shock, "you don't love avocados? Everybody loves avocados! You must at least like guacamole?"
No, I don't even like guacamole.

Anybody else here (Aspie, suspected Aspie, Unconfirmed, or anything else) have a strong dislike for avocados?
Or... what are some of your strongest food aversions?

Mines are: beef, fish, oinion, aubergine, quince. That's all I can remember for now.
When I have to eat those things, it makes an aching sensation in the joints of my jaws.
How does you aversion manfest itself? Do you get that ache too?

And speaking of food in general, I am VERY finicky. For exemple, I refuse to eat simple pastas when they're soaky, when the've been boilt with mixed herbs, or when someone put cheese on it. My father always forget I don't like cheese on my noodles. It's terrible when it happens. He gets furious because "noodles are noodles" and I am "exasperating" ("spare the rod, spoil the parents!" :D). My mum got the point though. She asks me how things must be done before cooking them.

I love avocados. I do have trouble with peppers, it's not that I don't like the taste, it's because they're more susceptible to mold than most foods and even extremely small amounts of mold bother me.

I've never eaten an avocado (or even seen one in real-life, I've seen pictures though), so I don't know if I would like it.

Parrots can't eat avocados by the way if it's any constellation.

I think eating is a stim for me, too, unfortunately. When I'm severly understimulated I have been known to eat as much in a few hours as a family would eat in a day

I have an few food aversions, too-first is meat. I liked it until I was 6, then I realized it was dead animals, and eating muscles is just something I can't wrap my head around, even now. I have also always hated peppers, of any variety, and Shepherd's Pie(tomatoes and potatoes together-ewwwww!). I like mild food, generally, some kinds of ketchup are too spicy for me. I used to love eggs, now I hate them. I am indifferent to avocadoes, but most of my very favorite foods are fruit-apples, peaches, oranges, mangoes, blueberries, plums, cherries, watermelon, etc.

Onions are a situational thing. Don't really care for raw onions. In childhood I couldn't handle onions in any fashion - maybe that's common for children. Now I can handle onions if they are cooked in with something else and not too prevalent.
Hmm, I never really gave thought to how the aversions manifest themselves... maybe a rebellion in the throat or something.
Oh... and they used to make me eat these salads with lettuce and cottage cheese and canned peaches. Bleccchhh! That would still be difficult now. And buttermilk. Blech! And Yogurt! Blech!
I guess it's because yogurt looks so much like pudding or something tasty, but... nope!
Kind of like parsnips... it was long ago, someone had fried them and to me they looked like fried potatoes... nope!
So maybe there's a visual association with how a food looks and what that food is supposed to taste like... what does that mean?

I'll eat most things regardless of texture. But there are some foods with strong tastes I can't stand. Some because of bland tastes, which I hate with a passion.

Dislikes:
Tomatoes (except sauce, especially baby tomatoes)
Green Peppers (Red is amazing, yellow is OK)
Clam Chowder (possible Clam allergy,genetic)
Mac & Cheese (constipation) :x
Hard Boiled Eggs
Apples & Pears
Unseasoned Roasted Pork (BLAND!)

I have a weird pallete. I enjoy sweet and spicy foods like onions, garlic, grapefruit/tropical fruit, pepperjack cheese, red peppers, mushrooms, BBQ sauce (it can replace ketchup), General Tso's Chicken, etc. I could probably link that to me being half Cajun. Hooray for Cajun food!! ! Yummy!! ! :D

I still can't eat avacados b/c of texture; they make me want to puke.
Sausages (esp italian) tend to be too rich for me, although I do love smoked saugsage.
For a peroid of time I hated cheese, esp the kind that comes in precut squares. Ugh. I do like larger cheese chunks like mozerlla, chedder, monty jack, etc.
And turkey gives me massive headaches. Turkey is the major food that I will refuse to eat, ever.
Eggs have been doing that to me recently. Don't know why? Perservatives?

I can't imagine why anyone would hate peppers, they happen to be one of my favorite foods.

Red and yellow ones are fine (pepperocinis, or whatever they are - great!).
And jalapenos. Used to go to a place in Texas that served their burgers with jalapenos. A good tasty kind of pain. Even those infamous habaneros, if you treat them with respect.
It's the green ones... if someone else is fixing a meal and they include the green ones, I'll eat and not complain but I will almost never eat them on my own volition. Years ago I would have openly revolted - I liked the stuffing in the stuffed peppers but not the peppers.

Green beans, peas, and most green vegetables (well, most vegetables, period).

There are too many foods I hate eating to name, but most of those are due to texture instead of taste. The only taste I can't tolerate is MINT. I don't know why, but mint is awful-tasting for me, and I'm even sensitive enough to it to be able to smell it on someone's breath from across a room. Just smelling it isn't so bad, but tasting it is agony.
