I don't know how long this has been going on, but I do know you formerly could search either a username or a term. What's going on with this?

Do you mean an advanced search ? I haven't seen this function at all.

But you could use google operators e.g. site:https://wrongplanet.net/forums/ "BeaArthur" <- This should return every page on WP which includes your name

Bea:

Do you get just a blank white screen with no results of any kind when you try to search?

No, just the search box at upper right - or wherever, depending on your screen.

I don't want to leave WP and do a google search, I want the WP site's search to work!

It's not a blank white screen, it has page header and stuff on the far right and bottom, but zero results and it also doesn't say #of results, or anything.

Not long ago it started with some promoted searches followed by real results. Now, nothing.

The same thing has been happening to me as well as no longer being able to see the YouTube thumbnails of posted songs in the "what are you listening to this very second?" -thread.

I noticed a small alert icon in the url field that says something about unsafe site, script, etc. I click on that and say "allow" and then it works.

The search feature is working.
It sounds like you are using a script blocking browser extension
such as ScriptSafe or NoScript.

It does that to me sometimes but it works other times. It's a roll of the dice as to weather it'll work or not for me.

Thanks for this advice. I'll look at this. In no way did I intentionally add such a script, so it probably is some stupid thing that added itself.

What you are describing sounds like normal browser security for web-pages that have unsafe mixed content.
I've checked the pages of that thread and they open securely in Firefox and Chrome.

You should check the privacy and security settings of your browser to see if you have
javascript disabled, as the message seems to be browser related.
