I posted a similar post in random discussion but nobody replied. Probably because they think its dumb but I cant help it. Im obsessed with Kurt Cobain. Since he commit suicide long ago Ive been looking for a replacement. Ive always done this. I used to look for boyfriends that reminded me of him. I did this on an unconsciouse level. I saw a pretty guy at the mall that looked like him and I wanted to stalk him. Everytime someone imitates Kurt Cobain, like Jared Leto for example, I find the person is nothing like Kurt and I get depressed and miss Kurt more.

I dont know how to get past this. I keep looking and waiting for the next Kurt Cobain to show up but he never does. How long has it been? 25 years since his death? And Im still devastated. I cant find anybody. :(

There will never be another Kurt Cobain, but then everybody is unique. At least you can always get your fix of him through the music and video's, you can't do that when it's an ordinary non-celebrity you're longing to see again.

If you got a boyfriend you could get him to grow his hair out and dye it to look like Kurt. Or if you talked about it with a psychologist in therapy they would help you explore and explain the reasons why you're obsessed with him and there might be a way to overcome it.

I had a hairstyle a little bit like Kurt's 5 years ago but I'm not a talented musician:-

Around that time one day I was in a train station in Manchester. Manchester's one of the UK's biggest host of live music and most the big bands go there. In the station I was standing around waiting until a train was due when I saw Courtney Love with a group of people. When she saw me she kept looking at me for a while, possibly because I reminded her of Kurt. The chances of that happening I admit are slim but a lot of celebrities visit Manchester to perform. I also saw Robert Redford once in the same station.

Wow thats amazing!

I never thought about going to therapy over this. I doubt it would help because I think of Kurt as my soul mate.

There just has to be someone out there like him. There just hs to be. Ive met a female version of him and I wanted to be friends. Shes too busy for me now.

I think therapy might help. I think I understand what you mean though about seeing him as a soul mate. I've felt very strong attachments to some women. There's one woman I told about my romantic feelings 2 years ago. Since then I met another woman who looked just like her and for a while became obsessed with her. The woman I liked 2 years ago, I bumped into her a couple of weekends ago and for the next few days I was a total mess, drinking heavily to try and forget the pain of it. I did talk about it with the therapist I see and they made me feel a bit better and forget about it to an extent. I don't know if it'll last, though.

It's not quite the same for me, but I can kind of relate. I still reread my copies of Nirvana's official bio, Heavier than Heaven and other Nirvana books. I just like him and his music. He feels so familiar, and as a kid he was like a friend more than people I knew in real life. Time to watch Montage of Heck again.

Sorry for your pain. What about Cobain attracts you most?

Do they have to look like him, or just act similar to him, or write/perform similar music, or a little bit of everything?

It shouldn't be that hard to at least find some of those qualities. We've been told that the band I play in is very similar to Nirvana, though our singer/guitarist (who writes all the songs) looks nothing like him.

What I think attracts me to Kurt is the way he expressed himself. I find it very meaningful.

What Im looking for is a clone. I want him to sort of look like Kurt and draw cool pictures and be into good music.

If I found someone that doesnt look like him but is into those things I guess that would be okay. But It would be better if they reminded me of Kurt in someway. I want to meet an attractive artist dude to be friends with.

Like I said Ive met a female version but she has grown up and works all the time now. She is married to my uncle but I never talk to her when Im around her. It would be cooler if it was a guy anyway.

I watched Montage of heck. It was a little disapointing because they said there would be all this artwork that the public hasnt seen before but I didnt see much of that. I liked the home videos they had of him though. I cant watch it again right now. It makes me too sad.

So you're a Kurtcobainsexual? That's awfully niche.

Looking for Kurt Cobain's double is not a healthy way to approach a relationship. You need to appreciate a boyfriend for who he is, not who he reminds you of.

As you posted earlier people grow up. Even if you found him you may not like how he grows up or changes with age.

I've been told I look like him when I don't shave.

I'm also not interested in being judged by my looks - I'm far more unusual than anyone who might front a band.

Well I'm not photogenic but I might as well indulge you even though looking like a dead famous dude freaks me out a bit.
