I've been on the piss and shaken hands with one of the survivors of Red Squadron after the attack on the death star - Wedge Antilles ( I think his current rank is flight instructor ) - got photo's as well

My Kung Fu instructor was a former military officer of decent rank, though I don't know which one.

Put it this way. Society tries to push certain people up beyond their status because they are employed in a certain way or live in a certain house... Someone has to do the job or livenin the house, but the truth be told, a house is just a place to live and a job is just a way of making money... And it would be stupid to think that one person is any higher then the next person...

It was probably the guy in charge of the Royal Air Force... whoever he is. When I was in a band we played at the big Battle of Britain Commemoration Ball at some huge air force base somewhere. The only gig I've done where there was a beer pump at the side of the stage (bitter and lager).
We slept at the base and were escorted to our barracks by guys with guns at four in the morning.
Interesting to look back on now.

I shook hands with our (Canada) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when he visited my workplace: couldn't get over how young he looked and how wildly popular he was particularly with the younger crowds. Holy crap the level of security detail he had with him was insane though: a large number both local police forces SWAT teams, tonnes of very intimidating "men in black" who were quite professional and polite I might add and a number of plain clothes guys carrying what were obviously rifles in what looked like school backpacks perched up above the crowd.
