Did you know that whenever you applied in the summer or winter and you ace your first interview close to the end of the season they consider you a good candidate in the running? The following spring or fall you seem likely to get hired depending on where you will land yourself in the department, whether your application is under external or internal reviews. All you have to do is pass a second interview/interviews. Sounds easy right? Well it wasn’t for me. I went through two months of getting hired and I didn’t hear until the end of the first fall month that I was referred to be hired as the receptionist of the only museum which harbors disability history exhibits inside the human service agency’s own training center where I work today. I nearly was going to be assigned to the day habilitation/person centered outcome measures programs in the company. What I’m saying is if you really believe yourself and try to get out there and do what you can to get a job you will possibly get satisfying results. I was patient for awhile and through despair and hope I got my first non-maintenance and second full-time job. Some applications get stored for days even though you passed your first interview and some people are not likely to hear back. I was one of the lucky few. So to other job applicants, my advice to you is, in future job hiring processes, preferably around the spring and fall, don’t call so much or if at all to check on your job applications and make sure you know you’re applying to the right job you meet the qualifications for. Pay attention to the guidelines and apply if you feel you meet the expectations. Unless you really feel it’s necessary to check on the status of your application then yes please do. Some companies have hiring budgets saved up from the end of the year and work their way to hire one or more people to fill any kind of positions within any department. Some may only hire internally and not hire externally at all. Some call back later in another few weeks to a month. It is also expensive to hire inexperienced people but don’t give up on your search. If you feel you can do it then you should really get out there and try.
