One of the publics favorite undiagnosed Aspies!

For my psych paper this semester Ive decided to choose Sheldon Cooper, and diagnose him with ASD (despite what the show says), but (ironically)Ive never actually seen the show. Since I dont actually have enough time to sit down and watch every season, so if anyone has actually seen the show and could point out a few key episodes where Sheldon shows off certain traits that might lead to a diagnosis, that would be really helpful!

Not off the top of my head, but I've seen it confirmed somewhere that he is based on one of the producers or writers (can't recall) then 8 year old son who did have an ASD diagnosis. I think this fact is probably to blame for some of his more juvenile traits.

Also, read through the tv-tropes page for the show, I'm sure it'll help you find key moments.

You don't need our help to cheat. Lol! You can watch old episodes on U Tube.

But since you asked...

But he has scads of cliché aspie traits (he is not supposed to be a duck but walks and quacks like one).

Special interests: Physics, flags of the world, railroad trains, star trek/star wars, comic books.

Monologues about each of the above special interests.

Doesn't like to be touched. His wife Amy Fowler had to trick him into spanking her (the resulting scene is pretty hot soft core porn for prime time) just to feel his touch.

Takes things literally: a constant running gag about how his friends have tell him that "yes -that's sarcasm".

Socially inept, doesn't get social cues, and like that.

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

There are compilations on Youtube of Sheldon's "Aspie" moments. If you want to make a persuasive argument, though, you'll have to make sure that the traits you use are distinct from the "Geek" traits common to all of the main cast of characters on the show. i.e. they all have what could be called "special interests," are all socially awkward to some degree, and other quirks. Raj even has selective mutism for much of the show's run, and Howard is absolutely socially clueless, maybe more so than Sheldon (whose main problem seems to be low emotional intelligence). I also recommend watching Young Sheldon. I relate to the Sheldon's depiction in that show way more than his older self - and he even goes through neuropsych testing in which he struggles with tests commonly used to diagnose autism. It sounds like a fun assignment. Good luck. :)
