I enjoy my food, but it means I can't lose the weight. :( I do eat healthy foods but I have a sweet tooth and often crave chocolate and cakes too. And I find drinking coke so relaxing, I just cannot give that up. I've tried the zero-sugar coke but it basically tasted like water, and the most part of my cravings for coke is the TASTE of it. I do not like diet coke, it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

I do a lot of walking, I walk 2 miles to work every day, and I feel like I burn calories because I get to work sweating hot and thirsty. I do drink only water at work because I'm so thirsty after walking and it's the only drink available, but I'm not keen on water if I want a drink for a "treat".

I've got an exercise bike so I can exercise at home, but each time I go on it within a few seconds of pedalling I get bad aches in the tops of my legs that make me unable to carry on. I try to pedal each day to get myself into it but each time I try it knackers me straight away. But I'm OK when walking to work, plus I'm a fast walker. So I thought I'd be the same on an exercise bike.

Dieting is hard. I have no will power to cut such delicious treats out of my diet, just like my boyfriend has no will power to give up smoking. Even if I'm out, I still get hungry and want to eat. I do have hobbies but I'm the type of person who enjoys eating while doing things like reading, writing, walking and even housework.

It's not fair, why does fat have to store up in your body? I thought your body absorbed the good stuff and disposed of the bad stuff. But evidently not. :x

in ur body's terms fat is good. it stores calories for the time when u might need them. it doesnt care for modern beauty standarts. its a f*****g basic knowledge. yes, if u over-eat u get fat. and sometimes what u consider fat actually is "healthy" in terms of nature. do some reading, i dunno. and yes i am not very tender here.

Im sorry but you sound like one of those girls that thinks their fat but is really not all that fat. At least your getting your exercise. Good for you!! Ill bet if you quit the soft drinks all together you would lose a few pounds. But I know its hard to give up stuff you love. I like to have a few drinks now and then. Id say Ive spent about 50 bucks this month. Its hard to stop because I enjoy it. So maybe you should have a soft drink every once in a while. And for goodness sake keep exercising
Its good for you.

I practice portion control. First thing I do when I get home from the grocery store is to divide it up meat up into individual portions Most of the time I just cook what I'm going to eat. I also like sweets. I'll measure out a small quantity into a bowl so I don't eat too much.

As a general rule, your body will reflect what you do most of the time. If you spend a lot of time drinking coke and eating sweets, even if you also have salads, your body is going to reflect that. Healthy food doesn't cancel out unhealthy food. If you want to still drink coke and not be on the heavy side because of it, you need to do enough cardiovascular activity that you work off the extra calories. The walking will be helping but if you're not losing weight then you're not burning more calories than you're consuming. You're going to have to decide whether you're satisfied with your weight, or whether you're going to cut down on junk food or start exercising more.

Have you tried sugar alternatives such as Stevia, or Pyure?

I've been doing keto for about 1.2 years and I've managed to keep my sweet-tooth contained using the sugar alternative Pyure (as Stevia has a weird aftertaste), but you should research which sugar alternative can work for you, some diet sodas also use them.

I do recommend keto for losing weight, as I lost 50 lbs and I don't even count calories. But you can't touch sugar or bread on keto, or rather you have to stay under 20g of carbs each day.

For most of our history as hunter-gatherers our diet was meat, fat and whatever they can forage here and there. With the introduction of agriculture our intake of carbs went through the roof so it's essentially shocking our bodies, this is still a relatively recent invention considering our evolution, so our bodies are more efficient at using fat for fuel. This is what Keto/Paleo diet tends to replicate, you can pretty much stuff your face with fat and still lose pounds and because of how satiating fat is you won't be eating as often. Keto was a big game changer for me, I highly recommend it.

When you say the tops of your legs hurt on the bike, do you mean up in your hip joints, the big muscles on the top front of your legs or the muscles on the back of your upper legs?

You can't out run or out walk a bad diet.

I mean the muscles in the top front of my legs. Then when I get off the bike my legs feel all wobbly and shaky.

Few pounds is no big deal yet, doesn't make you fat. If you want rid of them, you can start by cutting off some treats. You don't need to stop, not when you're just a little overweight, but eat less.

I kinda relate. I've gained alot of weight in the last few years. I was skinny as a kid & teen & till I moved in with my girlfriend at 30 cuz I was a very picky eater who couldn't cook & my mom hated cooking special meals for me. I would only eat one meal a day usually except I may have afew snacks. I'd binge eat & eat very unhealthy stuff when I did eat that meal thou. I started eating 3 meals a day after I moved in with my girlfriend partly cuz of meds & supplements I'm on. I also started binging on snacks after a couple years. Plus some of my meds might be causing weight gain & maybe making me hungrier & lack of self control. Not sure thou. Anyways I also used to go walking for the sake of walking but I started walking less. I have to get out of the habit in winter cuz of all the snow, ice, & cold & it's very hard to make walking a habit again after spring comes. I have some light dumbbells I could lift but I cant make lifting them a habit. I have things going on some days like going shopping or something & carrying heavy stuff so I put off the weights & then I forget about em. It's the same with walking, I don't think about doing it after I don't do it a couple days. There's also things going on around here & my girlfriend kinda wants/needs me around some. We used to go walking together sometimes but she got more stressed out & anxious & her pain issues got worse. Maybe I'm using her as an excuse IDK. The food I eat is more healthier than it used to be but it's still pretty unhealthy. Like Joe I drink Coke a lot but I really like soda in general partly for the caffeine & partly for the taste. I much rather drink water than the diet & zero cr@p. Plus I hear those sodas are more unhealthy for you than the original so I might be better off not drinking them. I don't drink coffee thou cuz I don't like the taste. I do take a caffeine supplement sometimes(Vivarin) to help me wake up when I have to get up early or don't get much sleep which is usually no more than a couple times a week. I really think if I could just cut out binging & only eat snacks occasionally & get into the habit of exercising, I could lose the weight. I also plan to get off a couple meds that might be contributing. I gotta wait for the right time thou. My blood sugar & cholesterol were high last time I had blood work so i really gotta start working on this or I'd get put on at least two more meds.

In some ways it’s good that those muscles feel shaky after being on the bicycle. Your “quads”, those big muscles are important ones to help with your mobility. You want your muscles to “know “ you worked them, but you don’t want them so sore it hurts. Maybe start your program off with just a bit of resistance so you’re not pedalling too hard. And for the first week or two only ride every second day.
