Yesterday I ended up going to the ER for chest pain... Ended up diagnosing me with "heartburn" and sending me home... Even though I take meds for heartburn twice a day... I'm still having on and off chest pain.

Then today I get on the bus to go to Goodwill and I got an email to go to an interview in a nearby town next week. I thought Goodwill would help but they said "no, you can only get jobs in this town, you have no transportation" then I mention a full time work at home position I applied too, I got a no, you can only work part time response. Then she told me to stop applying to jobs out of town period. Now my chest hurts even more so I think it's anxiety... Come home and husband s nurse here saying his blood sugar is through the roof again... Can't handle this...

try doing some breath exercises. wont help with stressload, but might easen up the psychosomatic effects. sorry if advice is lame. and sorry i cant help much

Did they do anything to check for heart problems at the ER - at least, an EKG?

One reason for chest pain is something called costochondritis. Did anyone at the ER mention it? It's a simple pain in the cartilage of the chest, it can be quite unpleasant but supposedly is harmless. I've had it, and found it was relieved by exercises which expand the chest area - such as elbows backward as far as you can make them go.

Second, what is Goodwill's involvement here? Why can that agency tell you what jobs you can and can't apply for? I'm mystified.

The thing with your husband's blood sugar - why isn't it controlled better? Are you/he testing regularly? Is he following an approved diet? Does he take insulin as needed? I'm a little mystified why it keeps getting out of control.

First the chest pain is better than it was and I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. Yes, they did check for heart problems, nothing found.

Second my husband especially is angry at goodwill, but it is true I would have a hard time relocating, but I don't understand why they are so against the idea of me commuting somewhere.

His sugar keeps getting out of control because of his crappy diet. I'm getting concerned because he's running low on diabetic supplies and insulin and there's so much red tape...

I also get heartburn from anxiety. My husband too.
I don't really know how Goodwill works and in which way do they tell you what to choose? Are you somehow dependent on them? It seems they do quite the opposite of what they claim they do by restricting your job opportunities.

Your husband is an adult, he should care for his diet himself!

If husband eats a lot of bad food (diabetes wise) he is killing himself. The keys are to have a healthy menu at mealtime, acceptable snacks between (in measured quantities) and zero high-sugar goodies that are eaten at will. No sugary beverages like soda, sweet tea, or fruit juice (except in measured quantities at mealtime).

Since you apparently cannot force him to adhere to a good diet, he does belong in a care facility where he will have no options to cheat on the diet. I know this is an ongoing issue for you.

I don't think anyone should be forced to watch their spouse slowly die due to lack of control. It's really no different than an alcoholic or drug addict continuing their routine self-harm.

And my one uncle, the one that starts all the crap all the time, has stents near his heart and ones got a clot but he doesn't want surgery because "then I'll be down this summer" idiot...

My husband does have people visiting him in the apartment, right now in fact is a physical therapist working with him, and later today someone else... but I don't think it's enough.

Oh, the older lady across the hall visits often now. I was thinking of her as like a grandma but I found out she has a daughter my age, which means she had her daughter when she was about 40... Heh

Ugh I shouldn't let my husband be in charge of his insulin, he told his nurse today he thought he was running out and checking for him he's only got 4 days of long acting insulin left, and the doctor won't put in a new pre-authorization until his appointment next week so he's going to run out...

Then he's almost out of diabetic supplies too and the mail order company he has to go through because of his insurance made us fill out a form, then made us set up an online account, then it says online account has to be approved and they haven't yet.... I'm sure people without internet access need diabetic supplies so why does company require it? Grrrr...

I'm not understanding the food stamp thing either. The older lady living across the hall gets meals on wheels, commodities and over 300 in food stamps a month, on social security. My husband is two years too young to be on the meals on wheels and commodities programs, but I really am not understanding the $89 dollars in total for two people on SSI only... Is there THAT big of a marriage penalty?

All this stuff is making me sick right now.

Ugghh... I call the diabetic company "we faxed his doctor several times and he won't send us a prescription for his supplies" his doctor claims he has... I called his doc about his insulin and got the response to bring it up at his appointment... He's going to run out you idiots...
