I got banned, but now I'm back. Somehow.

So, not too long ago I tried to log in as usual and I got a message saying that my network had been blocked due to measures put in place to prevent spam. The message also told me that I could no longer add information on this forum.

I was rather confused about this, and wondered what could be the cause. Perhaps I posted too many long posts on threads? I thought. Or maybe I was just visiting the website too often and the software on this site presumed that I was up to no good?

Most likely the latter. Was my ban just a false positive by an algorithm or something? If not, how come my account is back up? Wasn't expecting it to be, but I tried to log in today just in case. Surprisingly, it worked.

Apologies if this is the wrong section for this kind of post. I wasn't sure if I should make a thread here or PM a mod, and if I should PM a mod then which one to PM because I know that some aren't active but still have the moderator tag.

It doesn't have anything to do with you at all.

It's a glitch in the Site.

Try rebooting. Or deleting "cookies."

I get that too. I found a work-around is to click "post new topic" while not logged in and log in via that screen. That has worked for me so far.

You have never been banned. It's a glitch.Why it happens, I don't know.

Ah, I figured it might be. Thanks for the advice, Wolf, I will have to try that if I run into this glitch again.

Perhaps the system doesn't like their IP addresses. If they were using VPNs I could understand why the system might not let some in. However I've been using a VPN for the last couple years & I have never gotten a message that I was banned so I could be wrong about my guess.

I don't think you can be banned for visiting the site frequently. I have a shortcut on my phone to WP, so I can get on to WP with just one tap, at any time, even when I'm busy. So if that were the case, I would have been banned a long time ago. :lol:
