I only feel like this once in a while when I see words like "soyboy" or when certain memories come to mind like not being able to talk to the girl I like

No. I don't feel that being born socially awkward necessarily detracts from your masculinity, and I'm certainly no soy boy.

Well, because of Asperger's, I find it hard to take interest in cosmetics and I struggle taking the time to put it on. I know some NT females aren't interested in beauty but that's usually their choice, while I often feel plain and unattractive, but at the same time I don't want the pressure. Maybe it's an executive functioning thing or whatever it is, which is common in Asperger's and ADHD.

Only in that my nervous breakdown robbed me of my physical vigor and ability to care for myself. Both of those are on the rebound though.

Even though I despise rednecks and hip-hop thugs, I don't like soy boys either. They are a**holes in their own way.

Thank you for giving me insight into that, it was an interesting read

I was never too masculine to begin with. I'm pretty much neutral; I'm not too effeminate but I'm certainly no Hulk Hogan. I don't think ASD has anything to do with that.

If I was emasculated by Aspergers, I dread to think what sort of testosterone-poisoning I'd be dealing with if I didn't have it.

I had to google "soyboy" to know what it means. Urban dictionary says the following:

Quote:
Slang used to describe males who completely and utterly lack all necessary masculine qualities. This pathetic state is usually achieved by an over-indulgence of emasculating products and/or ideologies.
The origin of the term derives from the negative effects soy consumption has been proven to have on the male physique and libido.
The average soy boy is a feminist, nonathletic, has never been in a fight, will probably marry the first girl that has sex with him, and likely reduces all his arguments to labeling the opposition as "Nazis".

The two last points do sound bad. However, this is only the first explanation for the word on the page. Second one goes like this:

Quote:
A modern effeminate male, typically a millennial. A self-described feminist-leftist who majored in Social Justice Studies, Gender Studies, Ethnic Studies, Theater, Dance or any other range of useless college degree fields. Shows fear and revulsion at the sight of masculine men. Usually appears in public wearing flannel, skinny jeans often of a short length to resemble Capri pants. May have dyed hair and a beard that he spends at least a half hour each morning grooming. Urinates standing up in a stall in the men's room rather than at the urinal. Has a penchant for expensive Starbucks flavored drinks with soy milk and flavored craft beer. Likely a vegan or vegetarian. Raised by dominant man-hating feminist mother either without a father or with a cuckold henpecked man for a father. May own a car, likely a Toyota Prius or Nissan Cube, but has no concept of how to open the hood or change a tire. More likely rides a fixed gear bike. Completely lacking in any mechanical skills and proud of that fact. May spends hours or days gaming in his mother's basement. Offers nothing to society.

This one doesn't sound so bad, the definition of "soyboy" I mean. This text in itself does sound like it's written by someone who envies these "soyboys", though. If I heard someone talk about someone else like this, I'd see them as pathetic instead of the "soyboy." And third explanation for the word:

Quote:
A term used by whiny alt-righters to insult anybody who even remotely dissents from hyperconservative orthodoxy.
The term is typically used by frustrated involuntarily celibate white males who portray themselves as victims of those who reduce their arguments by calling them Nazis and racists; these males tend to have no self-awareness of the irony that they themselves are doing the exact same thing by calling their opposition soy boys.

See? The one who wrote the example number two sounds like someone who could be one of these "whiny alt-righters." In other words, it's nothing but an insult used by men (and perhaps sometimes women?) who think of themselves as more manly than some other men... but the writer of example two certainly doesn't sound manly. Fourth example:

Quote:
Another term with which to pigeonhole men whose traits fall out of line with those considered conventionally masculine. Used (unironically) by conservative men who feel threatened by such things as difference, otherness, femininity, nonconformism, education, fairness and intellectualism.
It's a xenophobic reaction to the perceived existential threat to manliness and a symptom of creeping anti-intellectualism and philistinism.

Yep yep, I know lot of men who fit that description and they disgust me. If a soyboy is the opposite of such men, then I wouldn't be surprised if they got all the women... Fifth one:

Quote:
Someone who beats a conservative in an argument.

So in other words women too...? Or would we be soygirls? Sixth:

Quote:
A man that's got left wing political views, worships Obama, and is also typically vegan.

This is much more neutral than the first two and since the list is shorter, there probably actually are men who easily fall in to this category. But so what? There's nothing wrong with left wing political views in general (some just go too far), as far as I know Obama was a good president respected around the world and while I'm not a vegan, I can understand the appeal in veganism. So if this is the definition of a soyboy, why would being a soyboy be bad? 8O Seventh:

Quote:
Noun: a pejorative used by /pol/yps and other reactionaries to describe men who oppose them. Soyboys are characterized as being weak, effeminate men who lack many of the qualities that make a man. The term soyboy is considered a personal attack akin to "You're not a REAL MAN" or "You're a sissy cockboy!" The word is typically used as an insult against anyone who is left of Ronald Reagan (A REAL MAN WHO DOESN'T PRETEND). Considering the appearance of many of these /pol/yps in real life, the word is most likely projection.

In other words, it's just an insult. It tells more about the user than the target, doesn't it? Eight:

Quote:
A term used (if unironically) by men who are most likely insecure about their own masculinity to describe other males who they feel aren't man enough. A trend that many thought died after the age of conformity, but it has made quite a comeback, just in a far more ret*d fashion than ever before. The term is derived from the belief that too much soy intake reduces masculine qualities or something like that. Sound weird and far-fetched? That's because it is.

Sour, said the fox.

There were more examples, but those were the top ones. Now, a question to everyone who's used the word "soyboy" in this topic: how do you define a soyboy? Is any of those texts even close?

If we ignore the first two examples and focus on the other six, I don't see how being a soyboy would be a bad thing. Certainly sounds like a more appealing guy to date than a stereotypical, conservative "real" man.

Responding to the message in the original post, not every girl wants to be with an ultra masculine or macho guy. Lots of girls like guys who are shy, sensitive, artistic, etc.
