Now my mom, I know she is busy with a lot of things and I am 27 and trying to "get my life together". But since high school I have been dragged down with an existential anxiety and mild depression about events in the world and corrupt people that are outside of my control. Thing is the whole time I don't think my mom or dad showed any empathy with my topical ideas the whole time, almost every time I tried bringing them up since I would only get something along the lines of the "stop worrying" reply. It's become even more urgent during the last six years. I also want to feel better so I can improve working on other things in my own life, but I'm stuck in this state of mind trend.

Sometimes writing about it may help get things off your chest? Just by what you wrote you are making a start.

Priorities change with developmental stages. It could be they don't want you to worry about things you cannot change. Unless you are going to dedicate yourself to a cause, it could be your worry functions to keep you from getting your life together. Not a criticism, just a possible description.

Most people are only interested in their own little bubble and not the broader issues in the world. It's not that your parents don't care about your thoughts and feelings, they're just regular people going about their lives in the way that they feel comfortable.

When they say, "don't worry" that's code for "I just want you to be happy". They are sympathizing in that they don't want you to have anxious feelings.
