If you need to replace a water heater & repair water damage, why it has to take all day? I know almost nothing about water heaters that makes me feel so stupid  8O

Depending on what areas were affected, water damage repair can be a very involved, time consuming (and expensive) process. That along with replacing the water heater itself certainly could take a while. Unfortunately they're only good for about 10 years.
