The thing is, that worms and other insects do provide us with natural food should we desire to eat them.
How to prepare a worm... Hold the poor thing from one end and squeze its middle from the top and slide downwards... This gets rid of the soily grit from the inside. Then it is ready to eat.
Thhose of you who are squeemish...The following is recommended... place worms in a warm enviroment where they will dry up and become hard. The worms can then be eaten as a dried snack.
Ants and other insects can also be eaten this way. They can be crushed into a powder if desired. A good source of protein.
The main criteria for safety when eating some insects is to check first they have not eaten something which is poisionus to humans before eating. To ensure safety leave the insects for 24 or more hours so they can have a poo and only provide them with food that is safe, or just starve them (Cruel! They are entitled to a last meal, and to write a will and note to relatives etc).
But in a survival situation, most insects can be eaten though some need any sting or venom taken out of them...And things like that...

Proper preparation is clearly the key. Some cultures already eat insects and it could help solve the world's hunger problem.
Don't fancy it myself, though.

I do admit I added this thread in my humour this morning, as the other thread Joe90 put up looked so much like "Eat Worms" that I couldn't resist the temptation to copy it... Sorry Joe90. It is just my humour kicking in!

You may have meant it humourously, but you've opened a can of fried worms now...

Not sure who Hanibal is. I don't think I've met him. Was he president?

He was a cannibal villain in the movie The Silence of the Lambs. :P

I don't know if I have seen that. I don't think I have.

What is the best way to eat worms? Well. First of all one needs to find out which end is its head. Tickle it in the middle and see which end laughs?

Umm. Never forget an elderly gent who used to work on the trains with me... He would do the catering trolley. He was brill. He would go down the train with his humour... "Squirrel on a stick... Southern fried frog..." One day this little kid said to his mum "Mum! I want a squirrel on a stick!" Made me chuckle... The kid thought he really sold them!

I've eaten fried frog legs. It's really good! :chef:

In the US it's a more common food in the southern states where I live. :)
