I'm at a really dark time of my life right now. I'm alone, working a bulls*it job with rude and lazy coworkers, and have no social life. Every day, I feel awful inside and out. Just so depressed. I've always been depressed- since puberty. But it's become worse. I've been self harming more often and I think about suicide almost everyday. I know I have to change something, but I'm scared. I just want it to get better. Will it ever get better than this?

I'm 23 going on 24 years old, and I feel like I'm letting my opportunities pass right by me. I'm just so tired and I don't exactly have plans on sticking around for very long in this world. I feel so unloved existing here. Perhaps there's something better waiting for me on the other side. I am most definitely on the wrong planet, and I feel that every single day. It really sucks.

I just want it to get better. Honestly, I just want all of this to be a nightmare that I can wake up from. I want to wake up.

I feel the same way. I want to wake up to something. I feel like I sleep walking through life.

Can you work on getting a better job? There's nothing like a s**t job, to make you hate life.

I'm working on getting a new job, yes. It's stressful, however, to think about going into a whole new setting and learning everything all over again.

New things are scary but well worth the effort. I hope your new job works out. Im glad you're moving forward.

Life seems to be a bunch of resets back to being incompetent and not knowing anyone. If you make peace with this you're a step ahead of everyone who gets caught-up on it. If you made the current one work there's a good chance you can make the next one work too. Who knows, if might actually be exciting enough to wake you up.

It could get better or worse

Unless someone is precognitive, nobody knows

Things change, that I can promise. Just because things are looking black now doesn't mean they will always be that way. Maybe I can just see that better than you because I am so much older, I think sometimes you have to have been around a while to be able to put stuff into perspective. There have been plenty of times when I have thought everything looked so black there would never be a way forward, but have somehow eventually found myself in a happier place again. That's why suicide is such a waste, like they say, it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

I fully sympathise with the thought that you're on the wrong planet, I have never felt at home here ever since I was a teenager. Sometimes I think it's a bit like those occasions when two new mothers get the wrong babies...somewhere, on some planet very like this one but with significant differences, there is someone who should be where I am and is feeling just as much like a fish out of water as I am. I guess that will never change but there are compensations. I am thankful that my passionate interests/obsessions give me the ability to take disproportionate pleasure in small things that others wouldn't be able to understand. An upside of the condition perhaps.
