I have heard it say that those on the spectrum often have digestion issues due to anxiety. Now on and off I get two issues.
One is heartburn where I remember in my late teens my dentist asking me questions... And he wanted me to see my doctor. He said my teeth and throat etc were showing signs of stomach acid coming up. I saw the doctor and he wasn't interested. I went from no fillings to all upper back teeth having fillings in just a couple of years. Now I have had them removed... Just a few years ago another dentist said I was grinding my teeth, and I knew I was doing it in my sleep. I don't think I still do it. Not sure.
Now the second issue is I sometimes get acid coming through my rear end. Usually in gas form but sometimes acidic poo etc. Sometimes I have found undigested greenery coming through. I have rarely every had soild poo. The issue I have is my pants have holes in the bottom. Also my trousers do. One relatively new pair of pants has holes in just a few weeks so not many actual days of wearing them. I have to be careful which pants and trousers I wear so I am not exposing myself! Don't worry! I am usually careful.

Now I believe this is because of nurves. Whe I get nurves, I can get these issues. I once told a doctor that I could give myself runs in a matter of a few minutes because if I worked myself up, I would soon get the runs! My doctor back then said it was impossible to do this, but I know that it is very possible as I can do it!

Does any of this have any connection with autism?

Digestive issues are common with autism, but could also be a side effect of the anxiety that often comes with it.

I have had anxiety so bad that I have had the runs as well. Not a pleasant feeling.

If your feces is acidic enough to put holes in your clothes, your doctor really should be looking into a possible underlying physical problem -- not just nerves. Ask for a referral to a GI specialist.

This ^^^

I've had Crohn's disease for half a century and I've never managed to shoot holes in my shorts.
