Now I have received a - not abusive but - certainly not nice PM. Does that mean I am finally accepted into the WP community? (joke)

You're welcome. We will will likely never know what the "other side" thinks of this since (1) they aren't brave enough to harass others in a public thread, and (2) several of us have already blocked their PMs.

Why on Earth would somebody send BlazingStar a not-so-nice PM?

She's the Voice of Reason here. All she does is dispense good advice, ply her trade, and play her instrument.

I can understand it more if somebody would send ME a nasty PM.

I've gotten a few.....after reading a few words, it goes straight into the garbage can.

I should have added the following warning to the original post:

WARNING: Blocking receipt of private messages from a moderator could get you in trouble with the moderators.

No one has ever sent me an abusive PM as LG. Under my last account, one time and few other times, I got weird PMs that made no sense. They were just accusations. When I would ask them what they were talking about, I would get no answer so they were trolling me perhaps.

The PMs I'm mostly referring to fall under the category of "Harassment" or even "Sexual Harassment".

The only person I ever got PMs from was a female member I wont reveal her name from the wrongplanet forums, who have been having a long conversation with me via PMs.
Other than that, no one has ever annoyed me in PMs.
There are robots who send spam and surveys, or magical offers that dont exist with external links and the like, which can be funny. But I have a feeling these robots aren't around WrongPlanet, otherwise they would have me fall in their fish net by now or soon.

I've received some of those "bot" PMs, too. The most annoying ones I've received either asked the same questions over and over again, asserted the same bogus claims over and over again, or were so laden with profanity and insults that the meanings were lost in the flood of filth.

First I report them, then I block them, then they're gone.

End of problem.

I just got an abusive PM from a regular on here who sent me his number.
Then, when I texted thinking it may be a joke, he was abusive in the texts.

You haven't reported it yet but feel free to if necessary.

I get spammed with abusive PMs some days but I don't really mind.

I would like to emphasise that reporting messages is very helpful to us as moderators. We cannot see private messages unless you report them, and will act against spam, harassment, abuse, or other rule breaking behaviour. Reporting also helps stop other people from being targeted.

If you have received messages on other platforms then consider whether it is appropriate to involve the proper authorities. If the content of the messages is illegal then you should contact the police.
