I find that cooking and cleaning make me feel confident because Im getting something important for daily living accomplished. I have a free swim pass so after a good swim I feel like I used my time well. Having hobbies is a good confidence booster. And if you're no good at your hobbies practice will make you get good. And if you're still no good who cares. Say you've written a story that you think would never sell. At least you've made something that's yours. Im no good at art or poetry. But Im still proud of my work. Because it's unique and it's something I've created.

Most precious lil "people" are  confidence not proportional to competence

Confidence is acquired when you watch yourself achieve. What do you want that is completely in your control to achieve?

The statement is correct

But maybe the statement is not necessary

Because plenty of precious lil "people" are full of false confidence

And they have not achieved particularly anything

Seriously maybe their family and friends treat them like they are the latest greatest thing since sliced bread

It does not mean that they are justified

But that they are in the majority

Well, I don't think OP is interested in building false confidence.

I am doing gardening. The land is very forgiving and it's hard to see a mistake in the dirt. I water and weed, my yard has gone from a dust bowl to green grass and pretty plants. When I look at it I feel a certain amount of confidence in my abilities, where there once was none.

That is great! Weeding is very effective if you put in the effort.
