I'm thinking specifically about this one, which I found very useful:

viewtopic.php?t=570

I've gone right through it again, and can find nothing that might amount to breaking any rules, nor anything offensive. Other than a comment that the test was silly (fair enough) most people, having complained about how little the columns differed or changed, then went on to state how impressed they were with the outcome, from a test which takes only five minutes. Having recently wasted half an hour to get less than a third of the way through a EIQ test, I heartilly concurr! It is a shame the test is no longer available, but that doesn't seem to justify it being locked. Overall, it is informative and overwhelmingly positive (until the breath of stale air turned up) so can anyone suggest a legitimate reason why this debate can no longer be continued?

In case you didn't notice- the thread was 14 years old.

Went on for several pages in 2004. Then stopped.

You revived it recently.

Fnord jumped in.

Then (incredibly) the very same person (Grywyn) who started the thread 14 years ago jumped in (its rare for the same people on a 14 year old thread to still even be active on WP). And then the three of you got into a fight.

Probably the combination of rancor and past shelf life spoilage prompted some moderator to lock it. Rancorous and rancid. But I am just guessing.

But it IS annoying when Mods don't state the reasons. Usually the last post in a locked thread IS the mod stating why they locked it (and usually the reasons they give make sense). But lately you do see threads locked for no stated reason.

I work for a government agency that is trying to suppress what Gwynfryn claims is the historically correct understanding of what it means to be autistic

But seriously , I guessing the reason the thread was locked was the moderator who dealt with the report agreed with the reporter.

I'd also like to point a few observations

You are a new poster and your second post was a reply to Gwynfryn , you then necro bumped a thread that Gwynfryn has a lot of interest in that no one else seems bothered in as the link is dead. You are both in France . You both obviously have a lot in common , perhaps you should meet up if it's physically possible , you'd get on like a house on fire.

Indeed.

They might fit together like a hand and a glove.

Or maybe they already are fitting together...like a hand and a....sock puppet!

Link in that thread was invalid and no longer working so it made the thread useless.

That is another reason why I hate old threads like that being bumped (see my post in one of the threads in wrong planet.net discussion).

And I think the mods should always state the reason why a thread has been locked.

15 years old now. I’ve been on here about that long.

I remember when this forum first opened and back then I had enough websites I was going to I didn't want to add another to my list. I lurked for like a week here but never joined. This place was very empty but people were already posting.

As you state, and as I expected, "its rare for the same people on a 14 year old thread to still even be active on WP", so as far as most users are concerned, it is news! Like all this talk of shelf life, it is not a credible reason for locking a thread; I for one found it very useful, and I'm grateful to gwynfryn for pointing me at this, and hardly surprising that he should follow up to see what I make of it. It's a real shame the test is no longer available, but the sample readouts main fascinating. Lastly, just why should anyone object? If it's not of interest, just skip it!
