The one thing I think is really don't understand are the so-called feminists who listen to Rap music. Some of the lyrics are just atrocious as in calling women the B-word, babby momma, and sex toys. I don't get it. Maybe they should start cracking down on RAP music if they really do want to be taken seriously. What do you think?

Given much of rap music's undeniably overt misogyny I do think feminists listening to it would be akin to a professed vegan listening to songs about eating animals, a Christian enjoying music lauding satan, an Antifa enjoying pro-fascist music or a pro-fascist enjoying pro-Antifa music. I could go on.

I'm a Secular Humanist who sometimes listens to Christian pop/rock cuz I like the music & some songs are more about life issues than god. I'm also a male feminist & like some rap songs cuz of the music & I have a very offensive sense of humor sometimes & I sometimes find the lyrics funny. I listen to lots of music & comedians that contradicts my various political beliefs & morals.

???

Is rap music being offensive to women an American thing? I mean I don't listen to rap much, but what I have heard hadn't really been so... it's never been American rap though, so maybe the problem isn't rap but American rap?

Gangsta Rap, at least, is very offensive to women.

I don't understand why, but then I don't understand why anybody would listen to that sort of rubbish.

I'm not familiar with it... perhaps rap here is just different; I've only ever really listened to Finnish rap (not a fan, but not because it'd be offensive or something; I just don't like rap in general.)

I can't think of anything more horrifying than censoring creativity. While I'm not a fan of rap music, the artists are depicting the world they live in - or came from. Music, art, and literature are an expression of humanity, good and bad. We're really in trouble if we start forcing it to conform an ideal society.

All rap music is not offensive to women, and people SHOULD have the right to like whatever they want.

But isn't Eminem mean to his momma in his lyrics?

"Eminem". Let's just say he isn't the sort of person I'd want round for dinner. The same goes for any other "rapper".
