What are the best aids for autism?
I am finally seeing a doctor that is knowledgeable in autism. It's quite rare here in Finland, at least in my experience.
It means that I might be able to get prescribed aids (such as an FM system) and was wondering if there is something important that I am missing? Something I might not even be aware of.
Here are the things that I think that could benefit me:
-FM system (microphone to ear piece system)
-iPad/similar device for communication when nonverbal as well as planning days and activities
-Possibly funding for service dog (covering expenses etc, and possibly covering Lattes replacement (in x amount of years))
Please post with the aids that you use/know of/think could benefit me.

Congrats on finding your doctor!
My first thoughts:
Irlen glasses
Weighted blankets
Funding for Occupational Therapy for sensory issues, Psychologist for anxiety / depression
Home care (cooking, cleaning, etc., as needed?)

My biggest sensory processing issue is audio, so my best accommodation is my noise cancelling headphones. I benefited from paying flagship prices to get the best.
At the time, that was the Sony WX-1000XM2 (on par with Bose QC 35).
Since, Bose released their new noise cancelling headphones 700 which is an exciting advance.
I'm also highly interested in the new flagship NC earbuds, because it means I can sometimes choose a less visually discernible option, but finances are a constraint.
One important self-accommodation has been letting myself be seen in headphones in contexts where I might have felt inhibited before. For instance, I love wearing them at the supermarket now.
I think it would be very useful if you tell us what your biggest sensory impacts are. You'll have a decent sense of this I suspect, though if you feel more reflection is needed to unpick the details, I totally get that too.
My biggest sensory issues are light (sunlight, bright lights), sound (difficulty with focusing a specific sound source. I hear everything at once) and touch (clothes need to be a specific texture).

There is limited support/funding in my area, so anything I need I get myself if I can. Some things are just out of budget but I know the following would be helpful (some are obviously unrealistic)
cleaner
cook/delivered meals
someone reminding me of all the things I have/need to do or taking notes as I work/attempt to socialise
free dating service
dark/sensory room
weighted blanket where the beads don't all congregate in the middle
floor to ceiling shower cubicle
funding to book out a lane of the swimming pool
ear defenders
noise cancelling headphones (good quality)
glasses that reduce blue light
I'm not saying I expect someone else to pay for these things, they are just what would be useful for me.
