The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines "Justice" as "the maintenance or administration of what is just, especially by the impartial adjustment of conflicting claims or the assignment of merited rewards or punishments".

Because I doubt that many people would agree 100% with this definition, I submit this poll to determine the general consensus of the members of this website on their collective concept of "Justice".

You may select only one option, but you may change your selection at any time.

Are there really only 3 people on WP interested in “Justice”?

I’m surprised!

Not amazed, just surprised.

I’d love to know the answer. I’m tired of people saying that they are “just looking for justice” when it seems more like they are looking for revenge and more. I don’t think that that is justice.

I didn’t vote because I don’t know the answer.

There is no true justice in our world. It's every man or woman for themselves!

I think the justice system should not be revenge-oriented and the system should work towards reforming criminals. However, there are some people that can never be reformed like people who torture others, sadists. I support the death sentence for these kind of people.

I have more pragmatic concept of justice:
"Whatever ensures safety of eyes and teeth and freedoms of innocent people best"

It’s much more nuanced than those choices.

If somebody knocks an eye out of someone, that somebody could get 15 years in prison in New York State. It’s first-degree assault.

These days, many people get prosthetic eyes...so the person knocking out the eye probably gets the worst of it.

Eyes really have a way of adjusting well to the functional absence of the other eye.

I would call that “justice.”

for a person with malice aforethought who injures an innocent, nothing less than the phantom zone will do for that sort.

If a act is 3nacted against another , with intent to do malice or cause harm , or results in same effects . Regardless of intention, should face the cosequences. But if intentional . And situations overtly prove this out such person should prolly recieve maximum available penalty , under same circumstances if life is taken. And evasion of justice is premeditated . Then rehabilitation may not necessarily be acceptable punishment. Nor life in prison. As a option. The individuals life should most likely be forfeit .
These concepts maybe considered as justice , by many people.
Not blood thirsty , just tired of the criminals owning the criminal justice system here.

I feel the same way, speaking as someone who had a relative who was brutally murdered.
