I want to explain to my friend that I'm on the spectrum, but I'm worried it will come off like I'm looking for sympathy. I want to tell her so she can understand why I'm not good with communication and why I'm sensitive to a lot of things, but I don't want it to seem like I'm just trying make excuses for not always being a good friend.

Has anyone else had the experience of explaining AS to a friend? What's the best way to word it? How have the relationship been since you "came out"?

Tell them to read a book

Even if you explain perfectly they might not believe it
