Honestly if you spend every day reading the news you'd think that we were all living in the End of Days. EVERYTHING is evil and wants to kill us and between climate change, asteroids, and nuclear war it's like we're all gonna die in a violent frenzy of fiery hate-filled evil where we hunt each other just for meat to keep from starving at any moment.

But ask yourselves: is the world around you outside of the news you look at really as evil and hateful and depraved as FOX and CNN are leading us all to believe it is? :|

No it's not. Realize that it behooves the power structure to keep the masses in fear. The more a person lives in fear, the less capable they are of thinking rationally. You are thinking rationally because you're questioning what they hope most people won't question.

There has been a gradual shift to continual fear propagation since I was a child in the 1970s. I'm guessing it was probably the case down south, but where I grew up in the northern U.S. no one locked the doors of their homes at night where I lived. Can you imagine not doing that today? Fear divides. That's one of the reasons that it's so effective today rather than generations ago. Generations ago everyone knew their neighbors. Communities were strong and therefore fear of each other wasn't a prevailing issue. Now, few people know their neighbors and people are afraid of each other. Fear divides.

Turn on any network news channel be it liberal or conservative, national or local and as an exercise, identify any "news" segment that has the underlying theme of fear. Nearly every one of them.

We don't really lock the doors in my hometown in Georgia, but I certainly did in Pensacola, Florida because crime really is bad there. We were robbed twice (once my mom's truck was stolen and once a drug addict broke into our home while I was alone by myself).

But yeah I agree, the media is making everyone paranoid. I'm tired of reading doomsday porn. That's all the news is, it's doomsday porn. :|

Life is a Rose; as it goes; Flowers and Thorns.
Some Folks Skip the Roses all Together and Do Guns.
Other Folks Rock and Roll Through All the Waves and Storms.

The UniVerse is a place mostly of Hot and Cold Rocks and Basically DaRK;

Look at the Blue; Look at the Green; Look at the Bikini's and So much more;

But Never Leave Bootcamp; even if 'you' don't go in the Military for if you stick to
Instant Gratification, 'Heaven' Will Become Mostly Hell. All Things Considered this is one
of the Few Slivers of Existence That Heaven is Ripe for the TaKinG; all the Variables set just
Correct for those who Partake. For those who do not; they do not, it's as simple as that always now.

Humans, Overall, With Their Cultural Viruses Consume more than they Can Reasonably Take
and continue their Existence Here. Meh; not a problem in my lifetime; reasonably as such.

Big Problem for Coming Generations; i don't have any living direct descendants but if you
Care about the Human Condition; You See the Misery and Suffering in the Eyes of People around you.

Things are more awful than you can imagine for some folks; things are beyond the colors of Heaven for at least me;
that much i will be sure of; 'as LonG as This Peace Lasts; i'm gonna Dance and Sing until the Colors All go to NoThing.

For a year I lived on what you americans call a trailer park (where most of us didn't lock our doors). There was one hardened criminal and addict (who I'll call X) living among mostly nice people there. Anyway, one day I cut some logs up for a friend who was a single mother and she invited me in for a meal with some of her friends. X managed to invite himself along too and what I witnessed really surprised me. My friend and all of her guests listened attentively to X, responding to everything he had to say with positivity and warmth, they made him feel fully included and he chattered away, soaking up the attention, which was on tap. None of them responded to X with fear, and from then on, X was always on his best behaviour around them, always amenable and willing to help.

I'm just back from a road trip where I didn't have access to the internet or the news. I travelled from one end of Britain to the other and was taken aback by how helpful and friendly people were. I got into the habit of asking for directions and help from the first person I saw regardless of their appearance and they were all very obliging. It was much easier to connect with random people while passing through places and it became progressively easier to initiate conversations with a great variety of people once I got into the swing of it. All of this took place during one of the most tense weeks of Brexit, without my being aware of any of the drama unfolding in the drama.

Thanks, domineekee. It's always good to have some positive input.

The media very seldom report on all the tales of human kindness. Reporting on depravity sells more papers. The headlines they paste on lamp posts to draw people's attention are generally overblown - you buy a paper and find that it was all misleading. Like clickbait but in this case, eye bait.

I like to share uplifting stuff on Facebook etc when I see such.

To tell you the truth, I no longer trust any media outlet, whether it be Fox, NBC, WaPo, Breitbart, Reuters, the BBC, NHK, or even Deutsche Welle. They’re all a bunch of f!cking liars, with their own axes to grind.

In my sick, pathetic little mind, Ignorance is bliss! It’s why I’m nearly a hermit.

If one hangs out too much on the Internet and not interact in the "real world," one will get the impression that everybody is at loggerheads, and that a World War is imminent.....

The "Third World" is not a place of total, abject poverty and hopeless people moping around. The cities of the "Third World" are chaotic places---and many people don't make money the "mainstream" way.

But people manage, nevertheless. You don't find too many people moping around in these places---trust me.

Right after the earthquake in Haiti, which took about 300,000 lives, various markets opened back up almost immediately after the earthquake. Stuff continued to be sold, and people continued to buy----even amid the rubble.

People have a great ability to survive adversity. More than we give them credit for.

It's also Worth Noting Here that Science Suggests in the Limited
Research done in 'Thought Areas' that Human Being's Thoughts on Average
That May consist of anywhere from around 12 Thousand to 80 Thousand or so
Words a Day are 80 Percent Negative and 95 Percent Repetitive, Overall. There is a simple
Reason for this Right on Topic. People Remember Fear Associated Thoughts most for simple
Evolutionary Fight or Flight Survival; for Our Oldest Brain the Reptile Brain and Second Oldest
the Limbic System Brain. The Neo-Cortex is both a Curse and Blessing this way as we associate
Thoughts with Positive or Negative Feeling Past Experiences in Life to Project the Best Potential Outcomes
of the Future; immediately before we even Have to Reason our Actions Based on our Emotions; and most
importantly Fears from our Past to insure Survival in the Future all innate, instinctual and intuitive before
we even Word Think; However, the More we Associate Words with Fear the More We Live in Stress of Fear
in General Anxiety more. So, if You are really smART You will stop feeding Your Subconscious Mind With Virtual
Feelings of Fear Experienced from all types of Social Media; Focus on the Positive and the Positive is what you come
to be Reborn out of Fear again.

Is it easy; probably not if you have a Job that's Crap and Hate School and Other People in General.

Can You Change that? Yep; that's Up to You and the Environments You expose yourself to most;
if you have a choice; just don't do it; just say no to fearful producing Environments and Just say yes
to Heaven however You find the Better Environment to Feed this Real Soul that consists of 95 Percent
of our Mind's existence; Yes, Our Subconscious Mind with all the Shadows of Fear and Lust that we either
Master as the Neo-Cortex becomes Faithful Servant of Secure Happiness in Both Survive and Thrive or
the other place of Slave in Feelings and Thoughts associated with Constant Fears that the Environment
we are bound to; either involuntary or voluntary, makes of Us for our Future Nows continuously Now out of Dark thru Light.

i am definitely not in that 80 Percent Range; Try Less than 5 Percent; but i trained my Mind with 7.4 MiLLion Words
of my own Longest Long Form Poem Bible Written in 74 Months; and 12,166 Miles of Very Positive Meditative Flow
in Public Dance; there are ways to get it done; but it's true, if your Environment is Crap it's very hard to do; change what you can and accept the rest; don't immerse yourself in an Environment of Fear if you can help it; either Virtual or Real';
as Your Mind will Literally not be able to Tell the Difference as Neuroscience also shows now. i don't watch TV but
for maybe 10 Minutes a Day; Just to make sure the 'Dark Orange Clowns' aren't fixing to Blow up the place as truly
'Psychopathic leaning folks' are usually the Last folks to become Suicidal; Built-in Protection for That as all they care about is their own Hunk of Meat Surviving; Their Life is all that really counts to them; not the kind to either commit suicide or do anything to help anyone else out that does not directly benefit them now for Real; Mostly Materialistically too.

Most media hardly report about the really bad stuff well enough, or it gets drowned by more spectacular, but not that awful stuff.

Like, most crime is pretty petty, and getting robbed is an aeful experience - but the way wallstreet robs you a bit every day is way worse. Just... The experience of it is not as immediate.
The media focusses on these experiental things, less so on tge structural stuff you hardly notice.

Well..

The press does NOT make things seem exceptionally bad.

And things are not exceptionally bad.

So the press is being accurate.

So yes -things are only as moderately bad as the press makes it out to be.

What I mean to say is that I don't perceive it the way you do. The news leads with what bleeds. So if you take stuff with grain of salt its all good.

I hate to say it but the fault not with the press, but with the overly emotonal way you respond to the news.

Um... no. The fault is definetly with the press and their politically biased fearmongering trying to get me to vote towards their political agenda.

Maybe you should do some research on what news network does the least amount of exaggerating or fearmongering instead of who is left or who is right.
