I have noticed here that a lot of people on this forum, especially males, are single/virgin to an older-than-average age, such as in their 30s, 40s, 50s or older, despite not choosing to do so, but rather due to having trouble in the romance department. And that this is a societal taboo, since the rules are usually made arbitrarily. Since these rules are more or less in place, people often shame, bully and make fun of those who are single and/or virgin, whether or not they have ASD. It is known that socially awkward people, especially those with ASD, generally have more problems in finding partners than neurotypicals and naturally social people.

In countries like the UK, there are very strict rules regarding bullying, even just written or oral bullying. "Free speech" is not a valid defence in these cases, and people can go to gaol even, if I understand correctly. In countries like USA, which take free speech to an extreme, I doubt that this happens. At least, bullying and shaming single/virgin people seems to be quite common in USA. In countries like China or Iran, there are generally heavy restrictions on what one can say, and I would guess that shaming/bullying could easily end up being criminal offences.

Should the governments of countries introduce legislation to categorise shaming people for being single and/or virgin as hate speech such that single/virgin shaming is a medium-level criminal offence? Following UK bullying laws, the penalty could be spending a year or so in gaol, or paying a fine, or whatever.

NO!  Proponents claim political correctness is about politeness, and many may actually believe this.  However the ultimate goal is to restrict 'wrong' thought -- as one of the left’s most viable and useful weapons -- because it forces people through peer pressure to accept what Socialists see as "truth".  Of course, there will always be at least two "truths": one truth for the masses to believe in (i.e., virginity is a sacred right), and one truth for the rulers to enforce (i.e., virginity is a privilege, not a right -- sacred or otherwise).

Political correctness is nothing more than leftist fascism masquerading as good manners.  It is intolerance disguised as tolerance, and it is running amok almost everywhere in society.

Sure, criminalize directly causing verifiable physical injury to virgins, such as battery and rape, but to criminalize "shaming" is to censor free speech.

How many years in prison for suggesting that you would like to relieve an adult of his or her virginity? How many more years for teaching that only a virgin could be worthy of giving birth to the Son of God? What penalty would you impose upon a woman for losing her virginity without the expressed written and notarized consent of her closest male relative?  Should a woman who is no longer a virgin be declared unworthy of marriage and denied gainful employment?

How far are you willing to fall down this rabbit-hole?

Where do you hang out, OP, that you hear this sort of crap?

I've never hung out ANY PLACE as an adult where this sort of "shaming virgins" occurs.

You get this sort of crap in high school.

So if anything, we need more radical free speech or thought protection, not more criminalization of it. It's a two-way street.

Where I live, not only do people in their 20s and 30s talk like in high school, but also do a large number of people in their 40s and 50s. You could easily meet a guy who admits growing up in the 1970s and addresses you as "bro" or "dude".

Not to mention "scoring", like one used to hear a lot in the cartoon Beavis and Butthead.

You have to find a new group of people to hang out with!

I can't actually believe this.....

If this is bothering you that much then why don't you say you're not a virgin, then according to you a girl will like you and then you can have sex with her? And if you reply to me, "but I find it hard to flirt or ask a girl out", then that proves that it's not because you're a virgin that girls reject you, it's because you are struggling socially.

I suspect you are spot on Kraftie. I have never ONCE heard an instance of this in my many decades thus far. I think the suggestion is ludicrous, without any need to bring left or right wing politics into it, which others may rush to do as is their wont.

Yeah, I also think this scenario is extremely unlikely and silly.

OP, how often are you talking about your virginity? It’s not something that most people bring up in everyday conversation. If you’re talking about it all the time, people could be intentionally messing with you because they think it’s weird or annoying, especially if you’re hanging out with an immature group of people.

Just something to think about.

Unless you tape record what someone told you, you can't  prove  they said it

And you don't know what they are going to tell you before they tell you

So you have to tape record everything

In some states it is illegal to tape record someone without written consent

Even if you tape record it, it's not always clear who was talking and what they said

If you want, please make new friends

If you don't want to make new friends or you can't do so, hang out alone

This entire proposal sounds pretty wierd

Maybe you could get a hobby

After reading the initial post of this thread, and all of the many, many other posts/threads this same poster has made over the past few weeks...he must be trolling us. Or conducting some unusual experiment with insincere ends :x

Anyone who throws shade on people because of something they don't do is trolling.

Have any of our members who live in California described what it’s really like there? That could be effective when all else has failed.

Markins and Leon_Trotsky are continuously making threads like this and it gets boring.
Similar threads like this are:
"Thinking it's time to give up"
"Feeling depressed about being single at age 30"

^Well that's a very sexist perspective, insinuating single guys shouldn't be sharing how we feel.

Single thirty year old guys have the right to whine about it.

And other folks have the right to complain about single guys whining about it.

Both groups have free speech.
