Concern Trolls

They frequent forums, they have 20,000+ posts, and they all gang up together on a user.

They infuriate me. Why do they exist?

"Concern Trolls" -- like other trolls (i.e., philosophical, political, racist, religious, sexist, et cetera) -- are best starved through lack of attention. If the enablers would only see that the Concern Trolls are using them for attention and immediately start ignoring them, the Concern Trolls will seek to feed elsewhere.

I've done that before. I don't know why others support them though, like they all think they are some kind of hero. As I said, they usually have a gathering of followers.

Concern trolls? I always thought they were Angel's Advocate trolls trying to feign false concern for your well being while not really caring about you or the topic at hand. Example: back in October, I posted a poll of what I should do Let's Plays on and some guy tries to change the subject and tell me that I should be promoting good health and hygiene or whatever. The guy was a trader and in my experience, 90% of all traders on Steam are scammers.

I think what Smudge and I are referring to when we say "Concern Trolls" are those people who post their tales of personal woe in multiple threads just to attract sympathy, concern, and especially attention without ever achieving a resolution of their problems.

Their enablers are the same people who deliver on the sympathy, concern, and attention every time.

That's another name for them, yes. Don't you mean "Devil's advocate"? But yeh, they act like d!cks, acting like they know it all, and try to beat you at knowing better, and try to put you down. I f*cking hate them.

And yes, feigning concern, as if they give a sh!t about the person and are actually trying to help them.
