I have a headache, my joints ache and I feel weak, and I feel like a cough coming on, what if I've somehow caught this deadly virus? Will I die? And how will I know if I have it or if it's just a cold or ordinary flu? I am so paranoid. :(

I think you should make a doctors appointment.
If you have it then sooner treated the better.
If you haven’t then that’s good news.

Even if you happen to have the coronavirus (and it's extremely likely that you do NOT), you almost definitely won't die from it.

I guess you should go to a doctor. The doctor will probably ask if you've been to China recently, or come in contact with someone who has been to China. He might, or might not, test you for coronavirus. I would say the doctor won't test for it, thought the doctor might.

Out of about 71,000 cases (as of yesterday), there have been around 1,700 deaths. This means about 2 out of every 100 people who get the coronavirus die from it. Many people who die from it have other serious chronic diseases. And are way older than 29.

More than 8 out of 10 who have contracted the coronavirus had either no symptoms or symptoms of mild disease (similar to a cold or flu).

I had some muscle aches and a headache yesterday. I also had less than my usual appetite. I'm better today. I'm not going to the doctor. There have been no cases of coronavirus in New York City at all.

Coronavirus: Largest study suggests elderly and sick are most at risk

This recent study suggests that your chances of surviving are much better if you are younger. And significantly better if you are female.

More than likely it's an irrational fear, though you should take precautions like others have suggested, especially if it will give you some relief.

I would say there's at least a 3 out of 4 chance that the doctor wouldn't even test you for the coronavirus.

But isn't going to the doctor a good way the virus gets spread? I'd be better off just isolating myself until I feel better.
Anyway, the health care here is so bad that you don't always get an appointment until a week or two later, and it is advised not to see the doctor if you have flu symptoms, unless you've been ill with flu for more than a week and you're suffering chest problems.

I think the coronavirus is spread from all these people being tested for it.
The symptoms I've mentioned in my OP have eased off now. I think it may be hunger. But all this talk on the news and all these figures of people contracting the disease going up and up each day is making me very paranoid, so if I even have a twinge of a symptom of a flu, I get extremely anxious.

I know. :) Whenever there's a threat like virus epidemics or terrorism or anything out of my control really does set off my nerves and I start really panicking.

I thought healthcare in the UK was very good. It's not?

I worry about it too. Tomorrow a coworker will return to the office after flying to and from Las Vegas for a week long vacation there. Las Vegas, a place where thousands upon thousands of people from all over the world congregate in close proximity to each other. Then there's flying on the plane with people in close proximity. I think this coworker was very stupid to take such a trip right now and I worry that it could result in carrying the virus home and infecting others including me. I'm actually angered about it.

There are many people in NYC who are of Chinese descent. Many are recent immigrants. Many have been to China recently, and came back.

NYC has not had one case of Coronavirus.

Most people who die from coronavirus already have one foot in the grave. You have a considerably greater risk of dying in a traffic accident. Or from a slip and fall. Or being murdered. Or electrocuted. Or being trapped in a fire. Or carbon monoxide poisoning. Or many other things.

If you worry about infecting others when you're sick, even with an ordinary cold, you can wear a facemask.

The virus seems to be strongest in Hubei Province. Healthy people seem to be dying from it there more often than in other areas.

The acquisition of new cases is slowing down in Hubei Province, though.

Still a zillion more healthy people die in traffic accidents.
