I don’t understand why the free place I get clothes would shut down because of the virus, but not thrift stores. Or why the soup kitchens would shut down but not restaurants.

I would be upset, too!

I'm sure there will be some sort of food distribution some time soon in your area.

Follow the money.

I wasn’t scared until everything started shutting down. The YMCA is closed. I was going to go swimming now that the weather is nice but the indoor pool is closed. That would really suck if all the pools will be closed this summer!! So they shut down the pools but we’re still allowed to go shopping. Yeah I see what you’re trying to do government...

You know what I would do?

I would go out and try to get pasta and rice from the supermarket. And ramen noodle soup. How are the supermarket shelves where you are?

Closing swimming pools used to happen all the time in the 1950s----before they came up with a vaccine for Polio. I hope they open the Y soon.

I don’t feel like going to the food bank today. Will make an effort later if it’s still open. There’s lots of food on the shelves at supermarkets right now. But of course no toilet paper, hand sanitizer or rubbing alcohol.

You know what---I would try as hard as I can to get to that food bank today.

I understand your apathy. I go through that sometimes, too.

But you have to take care of yourself. No one else will. Except maybe your parents.

Have you asked them for some food?

Are the place you get clothes from and the soup kitchen ran by volunteer workers? If so then it makes perfect sense: the workers don't want to put themselves in bigger risk than they already are for free. It's different for thrift store and restaurant workers since they get paid for it. And workers that get paid need to follow what their bosses say, but I'm pretty sure volunteer workers can't be forced to come to their voluntary jobs.

But if they're ran by paid workers then I don't really know what it's about.

That makes sense yes. But the woman who runs the soup kitchen said she wouldn’t close until the government told her. And then the government told her to close.

Unless they are like PA’s governor (who’s more p!ssy than lupus (if you get the word play), ALL UNNECESSARY BUSINESSES ARE TO REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!. The only exceptions are supermarkets, gas stations, and pharmacies. Restaurants are only open for take-out or delivery. County government, as well as city government offices, except for essential services, are shuttered (I can hear all the drunks screaming bloody murder right now, since all the state liquor stores are closed until further notice). I just got a notice from the city housing authority that all their offices are closed, all building inspections cancelled, and housing maintenance will only be dispatched for extreme emergencies only. (Such emergencies being structural issues, clogged plumbing, electrical issues, etc.)

They didn’t give me much at the food bank. Checked what it was like at the grocery store. It was crazy busy and there was still lots of food. But there was lots of empty spots too.

I wish mom would let me move home now. There’s nothing to do in town because of this. And I live in a rooming house so if someone gets it we all get it because we share kitchens and bathrooms. It would also suck to be quarantined in a house full of strangers.

You should ask her.

I wonder if Canada will send people checks----like the US might send people checks.

I wouldn’t mind if the government gave me 1000 bucks.

What will happen if the grocery stores run out of food?
