I'm 23yrs old and I feel like a child...I feel so uncomfortable driving so I don't.
My family treats me like a child...
I get lost very easily, hard too make friends and cook for myself. My coordination makes me clumsy and I cant handwrite...or tie my shoes...the constant need too be left alone and socialize better through text...
I feel like I'm 10-11yrs old...and I only feel left out more by my peers as I age. Causes depression.

Don't be too sad - you may have have a specialised skill or two that others don't have. I ca only drive an automatic vehicle and haven't done that for years either, so I need to renew my licence if I want to start again.

My shoelaces still come loose sometimes and I'm 57! Luckily you can buy special laces that once inserted in a pair of shoes, never come loose as they have locks. I use them for my running shoes, otherwise I have to keep stopping to tie my laces! I was pretty clumsy as a kid too - couldn't ride a bicycle or catch a ball. I have to be careful to see where I am in relation to the space around me as I tend to fall down, and once while running my arm struck a road sign, knocking off my watch. During a marathon I slipped on a cat's eye and had to get up again!

Despite this, I feel running has been of great benefit in improving my coordination. So has hiking. I write well with my left hand but can only scribble if I try it with the right. But I've learned to operate a mouse almost perfectly with my right.

I have also felt as if I've been treated like a kid and I understand it must be tough connecting with your peers. I was constantly bullied at school. It gets better as you get older.

Feel free to PM me with any specific concerns or advice. I'm in the process of writing my life story which I hope will encourage others to reach their potential.

Do you use any anti-anxiety medication?

Have tried few antidepressants found more harm than good. Do you?

I'm not currently using any med. I did when I had PTSD following an event sixteen years ago, which led to my diagnosis with AS four years later. Now I only take one quick acting med as needed in case of possible meltdown so I can calm down. Antidepressants don't work for everyone, although its possible to try different ones which might be more efficacious.

I have found that physical and mental exercises help.

I'm pretty sure that everyone has a childish side regardless of their age, one way or another. Some pure and innocent, and others spoiled and bratty.

I'm pretty sure you're not the only one who feels that way. Me? I'm almost 30, and yet I still feel immature at times.

I am relatively independent now, but I still have a childish side. I know that, at 55, I am still not up to speed with NTs of equal intelligence. My executive function is now good, but it was years in the making to get to this point. I would consider myself about in my early to mid 20's in terms of life experience, even though I am university educated.

One childish passion I'm not ashamed of is my love of cats. I watch a cat video a day, whether I need to or not.

Wonderful! I'd add some dog and other animal ones too...

There's nothing wrong with maintaining a childlike side throughout life.

I love reading anything and everything about animals, particularly cats. I love Temple Grandin's books, Animals In Translation and Animals Make Us Human.
