I was bullied a lot till I started going to a school for dyslexia in the middle of 6th grade. I went to 3 different schools before that & I was regularly teased, lied on, & hit/beat-up at all 3. I was teased some at the dyslexic school but I wouldn't say it was bullying cuz it wasn't that bad & some of it was friendly type teasing instead of trying to be mean. Unfortunately that school only went up to 8th grade so I had to go to a different school for my 4 high-school years. I didn't think I was really bullied at my high-school but YEARS latter after joining & reading some posts on this forum, I realize that I was being bullied & was too retarded to realize that at the time. Some of the guys would ask me stupid questions that I would answer & the questions were usually sex related & then they would laugh. I thought at the time that it was friendly & they were laughing with me but I now realize they were laughing at me. I still wouldn't say I was bullied much during high-school since it was a lot less than the bullying I had till 6th grade & the bullying was so subtle in high-school that I didn't even realize it as bullying.

My peak years were 5th through 9th grade and the first two years of college. I had a boss that did some to me and most of his employees.

Bullied a lot. It sometimes still happens coming from people who don't understand autism.

Yeah. I think when I try to be assertive what I come up with is overkill --for all the times I've been bullied--anticipating the worst. Then people see it as disproportionate, so that is a balance.

Not letting your experiences and emotions seep through when speaking up for yourself. Even if the person u are speaking to blatantly bullied u, if u react and speak up about it they use that as proof that you deserved it.

Bullies are geniuses at social understanding and psychology, naturally, but apply it to the wrong arena.

Yes, bullied from 5th grade. Which is one reason I didn't make it through high school. I'm no longer bullied but still dealing with the effects.

Bullied through all 13 years of public school (K-12).  Stood up for myself in college when I had to, but otherwise avoided most people.  Learned to earn respect through success, and haven't been bullied so much as occasionally accused of "sucking up to authority" ever since.  Bullies never really grow up; they just change their methods.

This happened to me but I used it as a way to connect to the rougher more forward lot in the school. I played on it as a form of masking. I would not exactly call in bullying as the intent was not malicious. In other words, though they laughed at me, they would jot want to harm me. Rather, they dis not bully me physically as they found me amusing... So I became protected by using my humour as a mask so I could also connect with them.

All my life. From grade school through high school it was pretty much daily. Decreased the most in college, but still happened sometimes. Increased again to varying levels when I started working, everywhere I've worked.

Not non-stop through my life, but yes at all of the stages.

Childhood: mocked and teased for being spaced out
Adolescence: verbally humiliated by my own mother in front of other women
Teen: mocked/teased by coworkers for looking stoned (spaced out) or drunk (enthusiastic), teased about clothes
Uni: sexually assaulted and mocked, also harassed and ridiculed by a housemate who threw my things outside
Working: yes, various types of exclusion and mockery
Trauma years: yes, with extortion
Police: yes, ignoring cries for help because of my mannerisms
Stroke: humiliated by emergency physician who thought I was drunk
Sleep Clinic: nurses made fun of me and asked if I was schizophrenic
ASD journey: scorned and belittled by a psychiatrist for having PTSD
WP: yes, from that unnamable ex-member
Old Relationships: harassment and emotional abuse
Ongoing: problems with mother

I'd rather have sticks and stones.

Like everything in life, probably but I didn't fully realize the definition of bullying and the subtle ways it can happen.
It definitely happened at a job last year - I didn't know why I went from being an ace in the field to feeling totally incompetent so I talked to a sister about it. A few passive aggressive coworkers - they really did a number on me and I didn't see it coming at all.

In my childhood people made fun of me but it was not something seriously transcendental.
The peak moment had a direct impact when I started high school at age 12.
When I was in eighth grade, there came a point when certain as*holes who made my life impossible would meet up outside the school waiting for me, then surround me (not without first checking to see that no one was around) and then insulting and hitting me.
There was a time when I threatened to carry out a school shooting and later committed suicide because I was fed up with the f*****g sh***y bullying: the constant teasing, some teachers picked on me, the insults, the beatings... Even the pressure of some members of my family.

I have been bullied by fellow Autistic folk, sadly. I'm a very tender soul, very sensitive & I've been verbally abused and character assassinated by several people I used to care a lot about. It caused me great emotional distress.

At the end of the day, you can't let the bullies win. You have your life to lead; they do not. Usually bullying comes from a place of privelege, particularly within the adult community. From people who lack empathy.
