I've noticed some changes like a quick reply text box at the end of a thread and a shorter list of threads on each forum page...

Does this mean the admin fairy is at work? :D

Yeah, I noticed that.
Assumed I must have passed a post quota for unlocking extra features.
Appears I was wrong.
Mini-update to the site maybe?

I hadn't noticed, but now I see it, it's not responsive. It's too wide for my mobile screen.

not sure why it's not responsive on your phone but it works on my PC. Will need feedback from other users to determine if it works for most users, depending on their device.
