Within the first two minutes:

"In our increasingly complex society there isn't anything to do for ten percent of the people"

And

"Giving money to people who have nothing to do isn't helping"

<Sarcasm>
Let them starve then, or try to steal, then imprison them? They definitely shouldn't breed, right? Should we sterilize them?
Ooooh! We should put them into a medically induced coma in Russia! </Sarcasm>

Why are we still watching the internet's most beloved self-help guru turned drug addict?

The highest IQ trait is likely *adaptability*.

That's not likely measured though.

I can't watch anything positive to Jordan Peterson, he is incredibly gross.

He mischaracterised a law protecting trans people's human rights as criminalizing certain pronoun use. Thinks that all women want to be mothers and are automatically miserable if they are not by a certain age. Has trouble understanding the ability for people to remove consent for sex at any time. Thinks the movie Frozen is feminist propaganda. Is against porn and gay marriage. And a peddler of pseudoscience.

And a very conservative drug addict telling other people to get their s**t together.

If You Cannot Master Yourself;
IQ Is WORTHLESS;
JORDAN PETERSON;
CLASSIC SAME EXAMPLE;
Intelligence is More Than
'Grade' Or 'Number' Deep.

Soul Deep
is Balance
And Success
In Really Loving
Life Fearlessly; How
Does One Measure Now
What one cannot even see.

Jordan Was A Train Wreck
Waiting to Happen; i didn't
Need A Pen And Paper to
Figure that Out; Or A Screen;
Just Eyes to See His Soul Clearly.

He Should of Stayed in School;
The Only Environment, He was Really Suited to;
Standard IQ, Means About as Much As An Empty
Grave; He Didn't Understand For Obvious 'Reasons'.

If He Could Have Removed Himself From School And Cultural Clothes, He Might have
Actually Accomplished a 'Real Lobster Pose' in Life; Talk Is Cheap', when you can't handle 'You'.

Sadly, Folks Like
'Alan Watts' Not Much
Different; All Talk; Never
Really Defeating Inner Demons.

Other Examples Include Bruce
Lee; And What About the Fictional
Character Jesus; Ending it 'That way';
Not Succeeding And Having to come back again.

(But That's How in Actually Living; the Hero Archetypal Story Works)

All Three Men (Bruce, Jordan, And Alan) Did Contribute Worthy
Nuggets of Gold; they Just Never Mastered their Soul.

Ever Heard of 'The Meek Will Inherit
The Earth'; No Way to
Do It Butt From Within.

Jordan Isn't Dead Yet, As far
As i Know; Perhaps, He Will come Back
Stronger Than Ever; It's Possible And i Can And Will Prove That too...

Until You Believe in 'You'; 'You' Don't have Anything Real; Automatic Soul Fail.

Is that what he is saying?
I only watched the video once.

Since it is quite a long video,
Could you give us a rough time when he suggested the things you were sarcastic about?

Perhaps,
But I have seen where he has voiced some interesting concepts.
I find it hard to believe that everything a person believes in is all bad.
Even Fnord makes sense, at times. :mrgreen:

I suspect there are serious cases of confirmation bias, which gets in the way of seeing the entire picture.
No one is all bad,
Not even Mephistopheles or Fnord. 8)

Jordan Peterson has some interesting ideas and is worth listening to. However he is also a flawed individual who seems to not take criticism of his ableist or misogynistic comments very well judging from his public outbursts (Low EQ?), he likes consequence-free speech where he isn't the one being put under the microscope.

he's one of those kind who think us mere mortals ought to genuflect to him.

I'm coming to see where if people have viscerally entertaining reactions to a particular person, thinker, public commentator in terms of vomiting projection all over them and it's not someone who behaves like Trump, it generally means they have a penchant for saying things that other people don't want to be true but realize deep down are.

With Jordan Peterson it was fascinating - ie. a really long time block where you couldn't say his name because people would look at you like you had two heads for naming a person they'd never heard of before and then, on the other side of that two weeks, everyone knew that he was a racist, bigot, 'far-right', etc. and it had something to do with him suggesting that if we're trying to de-sexualize the work place then it's an open question as to whether we want to encourage make-up to be worn in the workplace (really meek phrasing).

None of this goes anywhere near his pre-fame 'Maps of Meaning' lectures where he posted the courses on Youtube, and really what I like about him is predominantly centered around what I saw he was saying about these concepts and what he laid out in his 2015 Maps of Meaning lectures - something I'd been trying to tell my friends for over a year about the Jungian / achetypal layer of culture that people just had zero exposure to thinking about, and Peterson wonderfully tied these stories up with the ongoing processes of Darwinian evolution. Most people will never know that side of his work and it's not because he 'publicly disgraced himself', if he'd never gotten involved in issues over C-16 and compelled speech he had a very niche audience self-selected on their interest in archetypal stories and their role in the cultural layer.

Peterson also throws the "universities are hotbeds where future leftwing intelligentsia are incubated" in disarray. The University of Toronto gave him a full professorship.

Melbourne University is one of the most prestigious institutions in Australia and the old doyen of the history department is a right wing conservative named Professor Geoffrey Blainey (now emeritus) who had far right views.

We'd probably need to throw Jonathan Haidt under the bus in the same way - ie. he fully agrees with him and his suggestion has been that political ratio disparity of professors being 1:4 or 1:5 in favor of liberal vs conservative is manageable but that 1:20 or 1:40 turned into purity spirals, and that this was exactly what was starting to happen with college campuses in the US. He had a Youtube lecture that he gave at Duke University called 'Two Incompatible Values in American Universities' on the topic of colleges aligning themselves with social justice vs. truth and he likened social justice academia to the divinity school model, bringing Emile Durkheim into it and all.
