Why don't my older relatives appear to age?

I know they do objectively and health wise...

But when I look at my mum, my auntie, my uncle and my granddad, I see the same people I've seen all my life. They haven't changed physically.

Even looking at a photo I don't see many differences.

But someone looking at my mum now for the first time would know she's not in her 20s.

I don't get it. Is it cos I haven't had a break away from them for longer than a year?

Only me and my cousins age cos we were children.

IMO, it could be genetics in your family.

For example, my mom is 67, but many people think she is in her 40s.

Yeah it could be.

People think I'm in my teens. Not in a bragging way, in a I'm 32 and still get given children's menus in cafes way...

And my little cousin looks like a teenager too and she's 25.

My dad's really short for a cis (mostly) white guy (5"6) so I always thought the looking young thing came from that side of the family & was cos I'm short (4"11).

My granddad (mum's dad) is 82 and has a full head of hair. It's grey but grey isn't white and lots of old men have white hair or no hair. He always uses the same brand of expensive hairbrushes so we put it down to that brush

It seems odd that someone doesn't age at all over decades though. Which is why I wonder if it's just my perceptions?

good nutrition, low stress and not going out into the sun will help do that.

My granddad is weird though...

He looks young for his age or I haven't noticed him age.

He's relatively healthy.

Up until last year, he ate whatever he wanted. Salt in every meal.

He smokes as much as he wants. He drinks as much as he wants.

He was in hospital last year, I think with his heart. But he was 81 before problems set in.

My grandma used to have a similar diet and smoke as much then aged 49 she got breast cancer & survived it then the year after she got heart disease and died when she was 56.

And my mum nearly died when she was 29 and has a rare disease so her life isn't stress free. For her I think it's cos she doesn't eat meat and cos in the last 3 years she hasn't eaten animal products. And she doesn't smoke and she doesn't drink as much as most women her age.

I honestly don't think it's literally 'they don't age'. I think it's 'I don't notice them aging'. Someone more objective than me would have to look at photos of them 20 years apart to tell if they aged or not. But my mum doesn't seem/look to me like my grandparents did at her age.

It can't purely be genetics cos it's the same with my uncle.

You're descended from a long line of vampires, they just haven't decided if they're going to tell you or not yet.

Would others be able to guess her age or close to her age :?: I'm wondering if perhaps people's bodies in general don't show signs of aging as fast the older they are. Like a typical person would look a bit different at 30 than they did at 20 but not look that different at 80 than they did at 70.
