I find partisan politics in this country repugnant and I have no desire to be a part of it. Furthermore, I've never heard a compelling argument for how my individual vote will effect the outcome of the election.
When I ask, the response is always some appeal to emotion/guilt trip, like "soldiers died for your right to vote" or "if you don't vote, you don't get to complain about the results," rather than an actual explanation of how my vote will effect anything. When I asked one person how he planned to convince non-voters to vote in the next election, he said he shouldn't have to. He wanted there to be a law that would force us to vote against our will. Then he called all non-voters "criminals." This did nothing to convince me to vote.
