And I hope you'll forgive my ignorance of US political parties, I've only heard of the Democrats and Republicans.

I voted for my own self-interest.

I’m always baffled by you guys who are in other countries but still follow our politics. I would not give a toot if I didn’t live here.

There’s a lot of you and you make a lot of noise

It’s because you rule the world.

For instance, in the Middle East:
- Arab countries and Israel want Trump.
- Turkey, Iran, Qatar and Muslim Brotherhood and its other radical branches want Biden.

American foreign policy can end up having quite an effect on other countries, and in Europe we are used to following each others elections so it doesn't seem anything unusual to us i guess

Indeed, in Europe full of small-to-medium countries closely tied to each other, interest in other countries' politics and situation comes kind of naturally.

I remember spending a day working in the garden with headphones on listening for hours to the debates on a round (not even the final) of the earlier French Election rounds to see if Melanchon would get through

So this may be a difference between the US system and others but we don't actually vote for parties we vote for candidates, and some rare birds like myself still "split-ticket."

People shouldn’t elect for candidates either, but for programmes.... and previous proven track of success.
