Should this stuff be common knowledge? If I find it, a criminal can find it too.

Or maybe it's to throw us off the scent of their real names?

I love Biden's name and it's commented a lot in the Scottish press lately which is why I started thinking about it but - should this stuff actually be out there available publicly?

Some of the names were hilarious.
Reminded me of this.

It's just not that important if it's public knowledge. It's not of much utility to those plotting ill towards the president.

As the article says, the purpose of the code names is not to keep identities secret, but the exact opposite - to make it very clear, very quickly, exactly who is being spoken about. Particularly important when they spent more than a decade providing protection to two people called “President George Bush”.

As the Wikipedia article explains, concealment is no longer the purpose of the code names:

Quote:
The use of such names was originally for security purposes and dates to a time when sensitive electronic communications were not routinely encrypted; today, the names simply serve for purposes of brevity, clarity, and tradition.

...

According to established protocol, good codewords are unambiguous words that can be easily pronounced and readily understood by those who transmit and receive voice messages by radio or telephone regardless of their native language.

They are all kinda cool sounding names. Trump sees himself as being a "Mogul" (ie a real estate mogul) so he doubtless likes that name. Except that American tycoons ( Movie Moguls etc) are named after the Muslim "Mogul" dynasty that ruled India for three centuries. One of the original Moguls of India, Shah Jahan, built the original Taj Mahal. And...guess what..Back in the Nineties Trump ran a casino in Atlantic City named "the Taj Mahal" . Trouble is THAT Taj Mahal was run into the ground by Trump and went backrupt. So maybe Trump may...NOT...like a nickname that draws attention to that business failure.

Yeah they're more like a military call sign because human names can be unsuited for this.
