Should this stuff be common knowledge? If I find it, a criminal can find it too.
Or maybe it's to throw us off the scent of their real names?
I love Biden's name and it's commented a lot in the Scottish press lately which is why I started thinking about it but - should this stuff actually be out there available publicly?
As the Wikipedia article explains, concealment is no longer the purpose of the code names:
Quote:
The use of such names was originally for security purposes and dates to a time when sensitive electronic communications were not routinely encrypted; today, the names simply serve for purposes of brevity, clarity, and tradition.

According to established protocol, good codewords are unambiguous words that can be easily pronounced and readily understood by those who transmit and receive voice messages by radio or telephone regardless of their native language.
