Take maths for example. My brain works really well in pictures so some subjects are not so easy, so I need to find a practical aspect of the subject so I can understand it, but in some subjects when taught they are not able to give me a practical aspect so I am lost in them. Maths is often such a subject because though it is used innoractical ways, unless I can see an overall practical concept so I know what I am doing it for, it can go in one ear and out the other when it is being taught. But if I can see the practical side of it like working out angles etc, I would do well in it because I can visualize what it is used for and where I would use it.

I tend to make mistakes in maths when shifting between deep thought and surface thought because for me deep thought is in picture form so I work in serieses of dots and patterns and not numbers at all, but in my outer mind I use numbers, and the patterns of dots I think in in my deep thinking mind are not always in base 10 and need to be converted to base 10 in order for me to give a correct answer and it is this conversion stage between the inner ad outer mind where I can make mistakes, and also, I am not able to explain how I did it or show my workings out if I go into this deep thinking stage. So I would come up with answers and I would have to invent workings out thinking backwards from my answer to please the ones who taught me, which is why half an hours homework for me would take me four hours!

Other subjects when doing homework... Well. In school one is prompted. But at home I found I used to get stuck on the simpliest of things due to mind blank. Now as soon as I had a prompt my mind would click in. So I could be there at home for hours and do hardly a thing in my homework and get into trouble. But if my Mum came along and just said a simple word when I hit mindblank in regards to the subject, I would suddenly get past that invisible wall and carry on...

Now I do not know if the way I think is common to everyone or if I am unique. I could be a normal average person where everyone else thinks like me but has not thought about it to admit it?
Or I could be totally different in the way I think and feel and go about things which very much seems to fit the pattern of my life! But how does one know?
