I’ve never been more excited in anticipation of hearing someone say “You’re fired!” before in my life!
No, I don’t get to say it.
:p
I’d only heard stories of this guy’s every few weeks RAGE and verbal abuse before. So felt bad that I’m in the know that he’s gonna be cut loose - for reasons unrelated to my work.
The guy is so horrendously awful to people it’s pure toxic poison and he makes the top 2 star employees not want to come to work - and those 2 guys have a combined value of approximately $1M/year in salaries if they moved to Silicon Valley.. which makes them virtually irreplaceable. Also, this guy’s reputation deters others from wanting to work there and you can’t have that when you’re trying to attract industry talent and grow a bigger team.
It’s also absurd to have the Executive team spending hours talking about that guy until after midnight on a Friday night. My wage is small potatoes, but the other two guys in the room are worth literally thousands of dollars per hour. So a 5 hour conversation costs $10-20k+ worth of time that could be better spent improving the business vs dealing with a problem employee every few weeks when he goes off. (FYI to all of you - if you misbehave at work, there are other costs to it and justifications to fire you for beyond what your tasks are. Keep this in mind and do your best to not create problems for management to deal with.)
Until yesterday I felt bad for him because I had no personally witnessed his rage. And then he blew up and yelled and swore at me over something that was a petty non-issue; rage level 1,000 when the issue at hand should have maybe been a minor annoyance IF it bothered anyone at all.
He was pissed that he wasn’t first to find out about a new hire. The hiring happened at 8:15pm the night before, and the company wide announcement was made around 11am - but he was pissed that someone on the team heard in advance from me and then he heard from them - ummm, I didn’t reach out and tell that guy; that guy was working from home and texted me to ask & I had no reason not to reply and inform him. No big deal, you raging a**hole.
I bit my tongue (not literally lol) as he shouted at me to leave his office and said “I don’t appreciate your level of disrespect for Mark (CEO) or myself.” and haven’t spoken to him since.
In any normal situation I’d have told him to pack his desk and gtfo right now. Not because he disrespected me, but because he disrespected Mark - who is literally The Nicest CEO In The World. But I bit my tongue because I know this problem will be permanently resolved within a matter of days in a process that is smarter than “pack up and leave right now.”
Still, though.. whoa! f**k that guy. Can’t wait til he’s gone and progress can begin.

Apparently the process has been expedited today. There should be a final version of a document from a lawyer and then an explosive conversation sometime in the next 3 hours. He's straight up verbally abusive AF but afaik non-violent. Nonetheless, I will have my brand new glasses in their case & covid mask on just in case I need to zip down the hall and physically get between people. This is definitely a V E R Y tense time here.. but it'll all be over soon. The guy is working downstairs - I popped in and called the other guy in the room to the door to deal with a delivery. He didn't say anything, we barely glanced at each other. The owner slept for 3 hours last night and is going to be SO drained by this evening.

And I didn't even mention that he's had 2 separate road rage incidents in company vehicles that resulted in other drivers chasing him onto the property at work and confronting him.. like I have never ever EVER worked with anyone so explosive in any industry. It's insane that he's worked here for 5 years considering he's committed a fire-able offence every 3-6 weeks for nearly 5 years.

I hope that someone is able to make a video/audio record of his dismissal.
For legal purposes, of course!

1. There are cameras here. Outside, inside, in warehouses, on the roof.. I think he can see almost everything - not sure.
2. Someone recently told me there's also audio recording. I didn't know that before - but interesting if there is.

In general, we don't. That is definitely not our reputation as a nationality nor the norm anywhere ever - this guy is an Extreme anomaly of off the charts rage over the smallest of things. Must suck for him & to be him.. but he shouldn't be this business' problem nor a deterrent to people currently working here or joining the business.

My laugh carried across the empty office just now. Something tells me I'm not supposed to have this much fun at work.

It's done. The guy left without incident. All I heard him say was "This isn't what I wanted."
Apparently he spent much of the week before applying for jobs while he was off on vacation days all week - unscheduled, he just strolled in Tuesday morning after the long weekend and said he'd be back Monday. Said he had to setup his wife's new work-from-home job office. And then messaged to also include that he wasn't happy with changes happening and needed time to think. Ok, sure, whater.
Anyways, obviously he wasn't planning on staying if he could get a job elsewhere. So leaving was his plan - but he was going to do it once he had a job offer. So leaving with a couple of cheques is a bonus. Which is extremely difficult for him to get due to his reputation. And then if he does land a job, it'll be very hard for him to keep - but whatever, that's his problem, not ours.
He still hasn't signed and returned the contract to get his bonus severance money - but that's okay. Lawyer said give him time to read it, understand it, sign it off etc. Whatever - just glad he left without incident and he should only Maybe be back once to deliver a document and pick up a cheque/e-transfer. Unless he sends it in by mail or via the lawyers' office, I dunno.
Just waiting for our token CEO to finish up tying up loose ends in terms of cancelling user accounts/logins/access/security etc before there's a team meeting to discuss what transpired today & why, and then what's coming Monday morning when we bombard them with information about business expansion plans etc so everyone's on the same page with what we're trying to achieve here.
SO GLAD there will no longer be anymore $20K+ conversations about that guy. What a waste of energy when we have way more fun things to do - like crush the competition. ;D

I am worried, Goldie.
What if he says he is coming back for his bonus severance money, but he "goes postal", instead?
Please be careful!

Speaking of postal... Can't you just mail him his check? Tell him he's not allowed on the property anymore and he would be trespassing.
