The cancel culture has gone too far.

Celebrated American children’s author Dr. Seuss is now considered too controversial for one of Virginia's largest school districts, a new report reveals.

For over two decades, Dr. Seuss’s birthday has been celebrated in schools as Read Across America Day — a day dedicated to the importance of reading and literacy. The day falls on Dr. Seuss’s birthday in honor of the impactful author, whose books have helped countless children learn to read across the globe.

But folllowing pressure from activists, Loudon County Public Schools is reportedly dropping the annual Dr. Seuss celebration.

"As we become more culturally responsive and racially conscious, all building leaders should know that in recent years there has been research revealing radical undertones in the books written and the illustrations drawn by Dr. Seuss," the Loudoun County Schools district said.

I would not even say that about them, because I already knew how to read before I got exposed to them....and well I still liked reading the books and the illustrations were always pretty cool.

People forget how old his books are.He did wartime satire during the rise of Hitler.
His portrayal of the Japanese would be offensive today, but at that time we were at war.
It’s ridiculous to toss out all his books.

I think this is something like getting rid of Rudyard Kipling. It's not really all that difficult to tell kids about the history of how a book was written.

Too woke though? No, I think everyone just turned slang into a slur so they can complain about the court of public opinion.

 It's a free country, we're not generally so particular about this stuff.

Has anyone found a non-politized version of the story? Are they just not celebrating the author or have they banned books? If people want to associate the day with other books, authors, and ideas, than why not. Diversity of ideas after all.

Anyways, banning books is never a good idea. Not a personal fan of Dr. Seuss, always thought the art style and stories were creepy tbh like a distorted nightmare.

So the link in the OP says there was a study claiming that his books were full of white supremacy but the link Misslizard posted seems to be saying he was anti-racist but did some bad illustrations of Japanses people that he later regretted.
