Alternative interpretation of Satanism

Satanism is an anti-religion religion. The "satan" they refer to is nothing more than a symbol for human instinct, as satanism is largely a religion of the flesh. They chose to use satan as their symbol in order to step on the toes of the Christian fanatics who were historically (and up to the present date) so fast to label anyone different from them, or who thought different from them, as heritics.
A true satanist is atheist, they do not really believe a god or devil exists. Rather, they believe that each individual are their own god(ess).
The one thing that ultimately confuses the hell out of me about satanists is this:
In the satanic bible, they give keys and charts and stuff for magickal rituals and what not. My friend was a satanist, he practiced magic, from an atheistic point of view (ie the "dieties" were mere energies)...... Yet, when I ask many other satanists, they deny that magick has any part in satanism and treat it like the hollywood hocus pocus that people in society are routinely taught.

I know, and that's also what makes long-term coma victims such tragic figures -- their houses are always completely collapsed by the tme they wake up.
