Bad news for the speed dating event

The speed dating event was supposed to take place for real the first week of April and I messaged the host to give me an exact date so I could take vacation time again since I can’t get out of work days unless I am ill. My work schedule started cutting close and I didn’t get a response so I messaged again. I got a response but it was only bad news for me:

Hello Mark yes I did my apologies on the late response. Wedding season is here and I’ve been all over the place, forgive me.
But unfortunately we will not be rescheduling for a while perhaps in the summer. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, I will email you as soon as we get the new date and will give as much notice as possible.

This always happens to me. I get a glimpse of hope but it disappears quickly. The fact this time of year is called wedding season doesn’t help since I can’t even get a date. My mother is also pressuring me to go to the beach with her and the rest of my family despite telling her I don’t want to because I don’t feel comfortable going on family trips anymore since my siblings’ kids are brats, my older brother and his wife get in fights in plain sight, and I don’t have a special partner to spend time with when everyone goes to their rooms.

I'm sorry you're stuck making peace with disappointment again. On the bright side it means more time to work on your other projects in the meantime. The more you accomplish between now and then the more stuff you'll have to talk about, not to mention it'll help distract from the disappointment.

Yes, I know exactly how you feel, sometimes people aren't always in the mood for jokes, I know they think they're making one feel better but when you're really reaching out and pouring your heart out you don't always feel like jokes. I understand that completely.

I'm so sorry about your situation. I was hoping this would be your chance. I feel upset for you.
But there is still hope though. Just hang in there. You deserve a date. Good things come to those that wait.
