Im from Minnesota, born and raised in Minneapolis, go to Duluth for work, drop by in Minneapolis and am currently in Minneapolis as we speak, and today is the happiest day in our history. I know the Haven is supposed to be a place of venting and emotionally negative news, and I know ive been really active here with the bad news in my life, but this time I want to take time to celebrate and be grateful for the happiest day in a long time in my life. As a native of Minneapolis today is a great day for celebration in joy. Justice has been served, the trash pig murderer Derek Chauvin has been convicted guilty of all charges of killing George Floyd may he R.I.P., and hopefully the rest of his time in prison he'll be remorseful every day for the rest of his wicked life, and hopefully more in the next life

My dad, siblings and the rest of my family are so overjoyed by this news we are planning a family outing at the restaurant to break our Iftar. Every Minneapolis native and even Minnesotan I know is celebrating and jubilant, the spirits are high, and the sweet taste of justice is in the air.

For a long time ive been feeling suicidal and felt like what's the point of living, why continue to live given all the hell and suffering life has thrown at me? While this verdict doesnt fix a single damn thing in my life nor erase a single issue, it feels so cathartic and satisfying to live to see the day where justice is actually served in the same state where the killer of Philando Castile went free, and in a nation that does a terrible job prosecuting its corrupt cops. Sure the issues that made me want to end my life are still there and some getting worse, but to know that had I died before today I wouldn't have lived to see this moment makes me glad I stuck around long enough to see justice for my beautiful home of Minneapolis.

Minnesota you've made me proud

I fell in love with the 1,000 Lakes region because of "Purple Rain."

Bob Dylan lived in Duluth when he was a very young child; he moved to Hibbing later, then went to college in Dinkytown, Minneapolis.
