At about four minutes in to this Seventies' live performance by Bob Marley you can see both of the rival prime ministers of Jamaica- Manley, and Seaga, - up on stage with their arms around Bob Marley.

Another BOGO deal!

Pay close attention to the lyrics of this Sixties' Beatles classic and you will hear the names of the heads of both rival parties ( who took turns as prime minister) of Britain in that decade: Mr. Wilson, and Mr. Heath.

Seeing the extremely spaced out Marley cavorting on stage with a pair of staid politicians reminded me of this odd 1987 musical tidbit from the musical and social history of my own Washington DC.

About two minutes in you can hear mayor Marion Berry delivering a rap song - while being backed up by Chuck Brown.

The topic of the rap? Warning youths to stay away from crack.

Later that same year Berry was famously busted for using crack.
