I'm wondering, how many people work in each industry?

I work 4 days a week (the most I can manage without getting ill - and I still find it a struggle sometimes!) as a Disability Access Officer for an Arts and Education organisation.

I wasn't entirely sure which box to tick....

Other no job.

Though Small-scale manufacturing/handmade goods sounds the closest to my past work.

That would really be classed as education.

Possibly, but I don't work directly with the education department, I work with people who have disabilities, and I also have to ensure that designs for the art exhibitions are appropriate for wheelchair access etc. and arrange tours with British Sign Language interpretation and book wheelchairs, and arrange with the restaurant to cater with people for special diets. I also have to go to a lot of conferences and meetings with disability organisations to keep my knowledge up to date for my job.

The institution for which I work is an art gallery and education organisation, but the actual work I do isn't really related specifically to either - it is more about ensuring access to both of these facilities.

I work 5 days a week at a low level clerical job (data entry) as a temporary/contract worker. I have had no success finding permanent work doing this, and I don't feel able to do more significant work (even administrative assistant seems like too much to be responsible for. I'm kind of intimidated most of the time at work that I'll be expected to do something I can't do, which does regularly happen even at this level. People seem to think I should be doing more things than just D/E all day every day, like dealiing with people on the phone.) It's probably just that the NTs think something is easy drudge work and drop it on the support staff, not knowing that what they find easy I find nerve-wracking and difficult.

I work at a production plant where they restore bumpers for cars and trucks, and I love it. I just hope that my heel doesn't act up, after many years of being painn free. :)

I work a Registrar's Office in a community college. It's a full-time job which I had for the last seven years. I've been trying to look for another job in another place for a few years, since I don't like it over there.

I am currently an executive assistant. It's boring as hell, but it pays decently. I hope to semi-retire in the next few years and move back into academic advising at the university or community college level. As odd as it seems, I really enjoy working with students.

Also, in the last 15 years or so I have ghost-written newsletters, term papers, etc., "under the table" as it were.

In the past, I have been (in reverse chronological order - most recent first):
~ an academic program advisor (undergraduate program, college level)
~ a laboratory administrator and fiscal manager for a small research lab
~ a coordinator for governmental pass-through grants programs
~ an academic program advisor (graduate degree program)
~ a full-time graduate student after being a full-time undergrad
~ a full-time mom(while being a full time student, see above)
~ temp clerical help (while the above)
~ a mainframe computer operator on large-scale IBM mainframes (10 years)
~ an equipment tester (checked to see that the calculators, below, worked)
~ an assembly-line worker (put together calculators, watches, and batteries)
~ an inventory clerk (part of a team that would go to various stores overnight to do their annual inventories of their existing merchandise)
~ a bookkeeper for a laundry
~ a presser at a laundry, followed by cashier at same
~ a gopher (general help) at a laundry
~ a camera shader and video operator at a tv station
~ a lineman trainee for the phone company (had to quit - developed a fear of heights)
~ a taco folder (no, I put the lettuce and cheese on tacos as they went by)

**EDIT** Firstly, although the posts have been removed, don't feed the trolls

secondly, my job, wouldn't have had one had I carried out my resignation fully

My job is working in a sheltered workshop for people with learning disabilities, I work along side them, help them produce firewood kindling which is sold in petrol (gas to you americans) stations, coal merchants, small village shops, and even a pet and garden shop in the town I live in

they all do an excellent job, like their own little business :D

Not bad for people with certain learning disabilities.
