Hi. I'm trying to use the search feature on WP to find posts that already exist on a subject before I post on it. No matter what I put in the search engine it gives me results from the web - and a list of active threads that have nothing to do with the subject I'm searching. Just to test the feature after trying repeatedly to find something (the last thing I tried to find was threads on stimming), and once again, I got nothing except links to other websites and the list of active threads. Under the list of active threads there was one on 'Trains' so just to test it, I put trains into the search feature and still no hits on WP.

Am I using this feature wrong or isn't it designed to help me find topics on WP?

Thanks.

Using the search box at the top right of any page, underneath the "Log Out" button, to search for stimming (for example) gets me "About 1,580 results" over ten pages. A quick browse through the list shows they all refer to WP posts.

Interesting. Well, thank you for responding so quickly.

I see the problem - all I could see was off site locations - turned out they were ads....I had to scroll past them to get to WP posts. Thanks for your help.

search.php?

If it's a forum post you're after that's another way to search.

^ Much finer control over the search, too. :thumright:

I use that search but even that doesn't always find what I want to find. I don't understand what some of the words mean, like "wildcard".
